According to Expert Flyer, aircraft diverted due to "Aircraft Defects".

Well it can't be the typically touted engine bleed air issue this time since the 789 doesn't use engine bleed air for the cabin air.

Some searching on avherald will show you fume/odour events happen on all airlines, not only BA.

I am in the plane now, we're still waiting for leaving the aircraft to the terminal. Captain said it was a precautionary landing due to some fuel smells in front of the cabin.

Serious question.

What benefit to the crew would it be to make up this sort of issue?

Extra payment for extended hours (probably counteracted by dealing with a load of unhappy passengers)

A bit of 'sticking it' to BA with the additional costs of a landing etc?

We would get nothing extra unless hassle from customers and the company count as a benefit?

Good to read, thanks.

At least everyone should get to AUH in the early hours of Saturday.

Updated:

ba.com shows a current estimated departure time from FRA of 22:00 with arrival in AUH of 07:40 tomorrow, instead of 23:05 today.

And those due to fly back, because there is no way BA can make up over 7 hours of delay by putting the foot down.
