Good luck getting home ASAP. I'm no fan of LV either!

If you end up getting on the original flight, don't forget to mention EU261 to your fellow passengers... You know BA won't.

Oh dear.

New flight departure time is 3am! Phoned BA to request reroute but they said it was not allowed in the policy guidelines? Would that be because it is AA ticketed?

No space on BA274 either which leaves at 9pm. There had been a few spaces on BA274 so I hope they have gone to more deserving passengers. There was a mum in the lobby getting a bit stressed about the extra childcare she was going to have to pay for so I hope she got a space.

Luckily the delay is not going to cause any problems for me so I shall count my blessings that the fault developed on the ground, enjoy the additional (complimentary) holiday and maybe even chuck in another quarter in the slots and see if I can beat Vegas again!

Thanks for all the replies. Fingers crossed I won't be back again Wednesday morning for a rerun.

Come to think of it, is LAS not a JBA route? I know there are certain exceptions.

I was told that EC261 doesn't cover that, because the kid is/wasn't flying, so I too hope she got a spot.

The casinos treat me to rooms regularly in Vegas, so another night sounds good to me! If you are bored as a non-gambler, there is bowling at the Orleans. Or try the Mob Museum downtown. Great interactive displays and a good way to kill some time. Then have a drink on Fremont Street and enjoy the people watching, it's a different crowd than the strip in my experience.

When I lived there (three long months), you didn't have to go to a museum to see the Mob stuff. I remember when they burned down the printing plant of one of the local papers - what a bunch of cut-ups!

So the OP is looking at a 30 hour delay then? A bit unfortunate that there is only one BA LAS flight today so fewer reaccomodation options. Surprised they would not try to reroute more people through other cities given the now very late departure. A 3am LAS departure means an arrival at LHR around 9 or 10pm in the UK which means an extra night for anyone connecting as well...

BA phone staff cannot rebook you unless the flight is cancelled. Found that out the hard way where we had to wait 3 hours to be rebooked by BA ground staff in Dubai a few years ago.

The flight was delayed 14 hours, but not cancelled so only ground staff can do anything then.

There is a nice movie theatre at the Palms which is a short taxi ride from the Orleans.

The movie theatre at the Palms is indeed decent however no need for a cab, the Orleans free guest shuttle goes via the Gold Coast which is right opposite the Palms.

For a Vegas hater the Orleans is a decent option , it has its own movie theatre (Palms however is nicer and has IMAX) , bowling as mentioned and the pool is nice.

Buffet breakfast at the Orleans is decent as is the Courtyard cafe , and the Steak Loft for dinner is good. There's also if you want to avoid the casino altogether a route from the elevator lobby to the food court without walking through the casino.

if the flight on 20/02 was delayed until 3am on 02/22, isn't that closer to 33 hours?

Interesting that the previous BA270 flight las-lhr(this past Sat) was delayed as well.

JUST over the EU262 time. Arrived at gate 4 hours 02 minutes late. Likely a full 747 due that sweet, sweet EU Compensation check. https://flightaware.com/live/flight/...215Z/KLAS/EGLL

It has been a pleasant surprise to find the lounge is open, everything else looked like it was closing for the night.

There was a note delivered to everyone at the hotel this afternoon explaining that a part had to be flown out from London. At the bottom was a web address for EU claim compensation info (though the choice of typeface does make it a little hard to decipher!)

Fingers crossed.

In my limited experience, nightstop flights due to mechanical issues are those that BA will pay without any resistance.

I am surprised they were able to keep the lounge open, but if there's anywhere in the US where they could negotiate a 3am departure with a contract lounge, it is LAS. I'm curious what time they made you return to the airport.

The flight is now in the air, showing an arrival delay of almost 32.5 hours. Safe travels.
