Amex 241 status question

I have never booked a 241 before when the inbound flight has not been available until now.

Can I confirm that if the inbound flight is not available, I can book a one way reward outbound and call to add the return when it opens up?

Also, if I can add return flight later, will I be charged as I do not have gold status! (Just blue)?

You should be charged the change fee - golds aren't exempt from paying it.

Well sometimes you are lucky, but there is no policy to waive the fee for GCHs

This is asked very regularly, an almost identical question four days ago: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/briti...x-2-4-1-a.html

1. Yes
2. Normally the change fee plus phone service fee, but iirc according to a BA agent this can be waived if you initially book over the phone and mention that you need to add a return when it becomes available.

Thanks for info and links.

I have to call to book the outbound anyway and pay the phone fee as I cannot book a reward man-lhr-pls one way online because the flight to pls is from Gatwick! I will mention I will call back to do the return and see what the agent says.
