BA to Haneda

Hi,

Flying with BA on first of November on BA007.

No matter what I have tried I can not get a definitive answer from Customer Service. I have a Spinal condition when I looked at Manage my booking it only allowed me to book to seat 35 in World Traveller. This would make this a 777 300. I paid the extra money to reserve seat 35J it then stated this was a middle row seat. As 99% of the flights so far are a 777 200,I phoned and emailed and explained the situation; after another long conversation I was guaranteed seat 50b;again this denotes a 777 300.
All the flights so far are on the older 777 300.The seat now has undefined by the side. Could any one provide me with confirmation that indeed BA007 will be a 777 300,and put my mind at rest. All the NRT flights appear to be 777 300,yet HNDstill appears to be the old 777 200.

Many thanks

Welcome to FlyerTalk, your first post. I understand that due to your condition getting specific seat on an aircraft is important. I looked up and currently LHR-HND BA007 is operated by mix of 777-200 and 777-300. Some days operated by 777-200 and other days operated by 777-300. I do not know if there is any pattern.

When try to make a reservation on BA007 on November 1 at BA.com website, seat maps shown for the flight is 777-200. However, aircraft can change since LHR-HND is currently operated by mix of 777-200 and 777-300.

Sorry but unless somebody has access to inside British Airways’ aircraft operation, I do not know anybody at FlyerTalk can give you guarantee if BA007 on November 1 will be 777-200 or 777-300.

Many thanks for the reply.

It is confusing, that Customer Service can book me on seat 50b,which I think makes this flight a 777 300,guess I just have to wait and see. If it is a 200 might be worth asking to be bumped up, no harm in asking I suppose.

As this is a BA-specific question, I am going to move this to the BA forum. Please follow it there.

Previous aircraft types for LHR-HND can be found at this link on ftdashboard, as you will see it's been a 772 daily since 1st June with only 1 rotation on a 773. I've flown this route quite a few times and it's always been a 772. Obviously, this doesn't preclude it being a 772 for the day you are flying.

I believe this route is normally operated on a 777-200, with occasional substitution by 777-300.

What type of seat are you seeking to get?

NRT is a 777-300.

I think the general rule is:
HND - Better location for Tokyo, worse aircraft
NRT - Better aircraft, further from Tokyo

BA7 on 1st November is currently scheduled for a B772 as usual.

Looking at http://www.thebasource.com/routetracker.html

It shows a 777-200 operating the route every day during July, August, September.

Of course this is no indication of the future, but shows consistency.

I would suggest flying to NRT - where you guaranteed a 777-300 - and taking the NEX to Tokyo.

The NEX can sometimes feel painfully slow but at least it goes to convenient parts of Tokyo and is comfortable.

I flew the Haneda route last year on the 772 in W. It was a very tired cabin.

(With apologies for the tangent)

Next summer I'm booked in F from HND-LHR, connecting from the QF SYD-HND overnight service in J. It's already a 3.5hr layover at HND (0530-0850). There is also availability from NRT at 1055 - is there an appreciable difference between the NRT and HND services and lounges such that schlepping to Narita would be worth my while?

I'll be travelling alone, HBO, quite happy to sit on a coach for an hour or two, and won't be in a hurry to get home (tail end of a leisure trip).

For my flight to and from NRT in November, MMB and ExpertFlyer shows me 12 seats in F, which I'm pretty sure means a 777-200. So no guarantees there either.
