How Early Can We Check In at HKG?
The title says it all. We will be done with our activities here by late tomorrow afternoon. Can we head to the airport a good deal early, or does BAs desk open just a few hours before check-in? We are in F if that makes any difference.

You can check in at the Hong Kong station any time of the day. Dump your bags there, and then enjoy the rest of the day in Hong Kong.
Travel to the airport a couple of hours before your flight.

You can check in in town at Hong Kong or Kowloon station all day, and then head to the airport whenever you want.

HKG is a nice airport, but there is only that much you can do. You can use the CX F Wing lounge which is a twelve minutes walk from the BA gates, or the QF J lounge which is just 5 minutes away. But the QF lounge downgrades a bit in the evening as most QF flights will have departed.
Both BA flights depart within half an hour. You could use your executive car to arrive two to three hours before departure, check in at BA counters which are to the further right, then walk back to the further left to clear immigration/security and go to the F wing which is just afer immigration to your left.
Or you could directly go to the QF lounge which is near BA checkin and plane. But spending 2 hours at QF lounge is a lot, even if you take a shower.

According to the thread above, the answer as at Jan 2015 is that check-in only opens at 7.30pm. I therefore wouldn't plan to arrive before then if you haven't done in-town check-in.

Amazing how one can justify the walk as exercise (i did it once in a rather inconvenient pair of heels)... but hey, exercise is exercise!

Visited it a few times already. A clear step up from the Wing F, and a very good lounge. I'm a big fan and every time i've gone there my gate wasn't anywhere near gate 65.

Im looking forward to visiting the new pier lounge on Tuesday evening, as last time i was at the pier i was escorted to the temporary F lounge (aka the cordoned off bit of the Lounge) and felt as if i was on show, plus the Wing always feels as though your in a waiting room

Enjoy!
I think the distance away from the main thoroughfare may actually be a good thing - I've not seen it crowded yet!

7.30pm is still correct for airport check in I believe. I don't often fly BA anymore from HKG but last time I did they had just opened up and i arrived at 8.
Definitely make the journey to The Pier F. It is the best lounge I have been in, a world away from anything at LHR. Just make sure to leave in plenty of time as your flight will almost certainly leave from the other end of the airport.

Which personally strikes me as unnecessary, the Express gets nearer to security than the car does, on the same level, and is a lot faster/smoother/less congested/better airconditioned/more spacious/safer blah blah. It's a very slick service as one would expect in HKG. So personally I would take a rickety taxi to the Airport Express at a time of your choosing and then spend as long as you like airside.
