easyJet at Heathrow?
Very interesting reading today that easyJet is supporting expansion at LHR rather than LGW. They are very clear in their submission that they would operate a significant network at LHR if it got a third runway.
Now obviously *if* this ever happens it will be many years away, but something to look forward to for all you BAEC members whose loyalty is no more...

If you read even the opening page of that formal response by EZY, they are opposed to Gatwick expansion because it will bring much increased fees (and thus, fares). That would harm their operation substantially.
They want to stay at Gatwick!

I think EZY has been signalling this interest to LHR for some time now, so it's interesting to see it being put into such black-and-white terms.
It also shows that we can whinge all we like about BA becoming ever more like a low-fare carrier on short-haul to compete (largely) with EZY and RYR, but it is clear that competitive pressures on them are showing as well as they start to follow the DJ / VA path to adopting more elements of a full-service airline in order to grow the more profitable parts of their businesses.

It'd be nice to have a quality airline at LHR
Gatwick must be annoyed at this statement considering all the effort they're making to improve things for EZY and kick BA out of the terminal that was built for them.
Has BA made a submission to the airports commission yet?

When Little Red leaves EDI and MAN the slots are only able to be used for flights that bmi used to operate, I don't know if this includes GLA because bmi left that in March 2011. Flying to LHR is not just about connections there is a good bit of point to point from Scotland who want to go to LHR. Perhaps EZY could give it a go and start operations there. Plus they would end up with T2 giving a better experience overall. Isn't it even a few mins quicker on the HEX?
