BA sop when missing a flight?
Just trying to help a friend right now, him and his father missed their LHR-DEL return, thinking it was today, when it was actually yesterday...
The have an I class ticket, and only just realised their mistake now. Business on this evenings flight is full. Somewhere between their agent and BA, they've been put on tomorrows 10:30AM flight instead, but in WT+ for a fee of £140 (unsure if this is pp or total).
A quick look at Expert Flyer shows me J7 C7 D8 R7 I8 for tomorrows flight.
Frankly, I think they're lucky to get away even with WT+ for that price instead of buying a new ticket, but I want to see what can be done for them! He did say something about being asked for £1500 for a higher class of business, though it seems odd if his current class is still available.
Does anyone have access to I class fare rules?
I'm hoping there is still some knowledge here at the moment, and its not all sozzled in Jersey!

Generally UK originated I-class tickets are completely inflexible. That's why they're often cheaper than WTP tickets.
However there are a million I class fare rules, you'd need to know the date bought and the exact fare to have a chance at finding it out. Unless it's on an e-ticket somewhere. It will look like "IAPGB"
IAPGB, by the way, states
And with all taxes and fees costs £2,025.91.
To give you an idea on how cheap IAPDB is, many people in WTP will be travelling on a £2,603 fare (W2BA) - 30% more expensive than your I-class fare, but does allow cancellations and changes.
Overall my gut tells me that a £140 fee and a downgrade is a brilliant offer and you're very lucky.

If so, then a sample I class fare has rules that are set out below.
INR 7300 x 2 pax would be about £144, so is it possible that they've paid that in total between them for change fee only? That would also mean that BA has waived the no-show fee of INR 20000 = ~£196 per person.
However, if they were on an ex-UK I class fare, then these are no changes no refunds, in which case (like others) I think that they're lucky to be allowed to travel on the ticket at all.

Sounds like a brilliant result. ^
I say this as someone who has done exactly the same thing (i.e. turned up 1 day late for a flight). In that situation you go up to the desk, get out your credit card and clench your buttocks...
In fact last month almost the same mistake cost me £240 in an unused hotel stay which I could have cancelled up until 8pm on the day of arrival if I had realised I was supposed to be arriving.... Some things you just have to put down to experience.

Amazingly enough, walk up one-way fares from India to London are really cheap, with apparently no advance purchase or return/sat night stay on T class in WTP (TRCASO7, £482.80) if there's availability.
£1390 in club world (D class)
