Live trip report, BRU-HNL-STT and back

I'm not sure if there is a dedicated section for this but I'm currently on a TP run from BRU-HNL-STT aiming for 2560 tier points. I'm booked on it again next month with the hope of hitting GGL.

I'm blogging it live here:

Just to follow on from jacobitetraveller, any chance you could post the dates and maybe flight numbers as well for your run? I know you posted the route on your blog but there are quite a few of us doing variations of US TP runs over the next week, myself included, and it would be great to see if any of us are on the same flights.

EDIT: this is me so say hi if you are on any of the same flights:

What sort of fare are you paying for that? Can you give any insights to your fare construction?

It does seem mad, but you will be doing a lot of it flat on your back I imagine, and the rest reclined at a comfortable angle

I think you are all completely bonkers for doing long TP runs just to achieve GGL status!

Just realised that wonderman was on the same positioning flight as me to BRU today - I think two rows behind me judging by the comment about being sat next to a BA uniform.

See the main TP run thread - sorry can't easily post a link as on my iPad. The current best routes may well be totally different from what a few of us are doing this/next week.

Bear in mind there may be two or more separately ticketed trips, mine certainly is. So there is a BRU-HNL return, and a nested HNL-SJU ticket. The OP's look similar in that there is again a BRU-HNL return and a nested HNL-STT trip.

In terms of cost, there are often exBRU or exAMS sales to the US and generally the cost of a return to say HNL is 1400-1800. You can play about with aa.com and ita matrix to maximise the TPs whilst keeping the price down. You can book on aa.com, but if you want to book with BA you need to call since the website doesn't give the AA numbers for the AA flights or the routings you want.

For the nested HNL-XXX trips these are usually booked on aa.com since they are exclusively AA flights (presume you can book them on the usairways.com site, although I am not sure how good there booking engine is at letting you explore different routings. A HNL-XXX trip, where XXX is somewhere in the Carribean, are usually 800-900.

Flibby - looks like you'll be in HNL (first time round!) at the same time as me. Are you staying near the airport?
