Myself, wife and daughter got that "magic beep" x 3 from ET to CE at TFS last year (as a mere Silver) When the beep happened I said to that chap at the gate "good news?" and he replied "Oh yes, you are being upgraded". I then explained that this was the "magic beep" and he and his colleagues found it quite funny!

Got an interesting magic beep going into the LHR 5B lounge this morning. Apparently the whole UD of the BOS flight was being either upgraded or moved downstairs as the lift that takes the food upstairs was broken!
I wasn't particularly impressed to go from 62K to 5E, but then I spotted that 5A was empty so moved into there instead.

BA199 LHR-BOM last week (a route I understand not noted for Op-Up). No beep at Visa check or lounge but at the gate - with the message on the scanner of 'Not Checked In'. Upgrade from W to J - overbooked I think and they waited to see who turned up.
None on the way back and, despite J being 50% empty, no UUA - though was offered it at Ł497.
The good bit was going ex-JER, so got to 1500+ TP

My wife and I had the magic beep going to MIA. We were in exit row Y seats and got upgraded to WT+ on boarding. We got to the seats and found they were middle WT+.
I said to a stewardess that I didn't want the upgrade and would like my original seats back. As there was already people sitting in our exit seats this was going to be difficult.
Obviously the pax in our seats wouldn't budge, lots of conversations to the boarding gate, and they found 2 seats in CW for us. Result.

If you didn't regard that as an upgrade, then Hobbes01 is correct:-
Either way, this routine everyday occurrence surely didn't merit a new thread.
How many CW sectors are you up to now?

For 18F-19K, probably not. For 18F-60A, even though 60AK are my personal favourites, maybe not. But in the case of 18F-64K, with 64K being such a popular seat, I was genuinely surprised.
52 - what a about you?!

No idea. I'm not sure whether I've lost count or whether I was never counting to start off with. Although I'm sure that unlike some people here, I'm not doing 50 a year.
No doubt we'll hear all the gory detail of number 53 in due course, spread across several new threads.

Once, when travelling to BOS in Club from T5, we received a “beep” when entering the GF lounge; the lounge lady pressed a button on her keyboard and we proceeded into the lounge. The screens later showed that we had a “B” gate and when we got to the lounge there we “beeped” again but this time we were given BPs for First Class. Do you think that we our initial beep in Terminal A showed the message but we weren’t told about it so we didn’t try to access the CCR? Or am I just been cynical?
