Unhappy RIP to one of BA Concorde's most regular passengers

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-23920336

Very sad to read about Sir David Frost passing away. He was just about the most frequent ever notable passenger, wasn't he?

Here was David talking about our favourite BA metal:

BA just tweeted that he was "..Concorde's biggest supporter" and will be greatly missed by all at BA. I expect the Whickerman was another frequent user so two great worldly commentators lost in the space of a few months.

A proper gentleman and the end of a broadcasting era. Great to see three Concorde devotees talk with passion and love.

What a sad, sad shame. He was a true professional and a great voice. Sorry to see him go.

And in a tribute to your name, an old anecdote that I know I have mentioned before. From the days that Sir David was commuting on a weekly basis (at least) when he had concurrent chat shows in New York and London.

BA Steward to Frostie on wheeling out the trolley of appetisers:

'It's Caviar again I'm afraid Mr Frost....'

I was once op-upped to F and sat in 1K ahead of him in 2K. Was struck that he wasn't asked to show his passport at the gate; that he asked for a taste of all the wines in F before choosing; and that he was incredibly polite and friendly with the cabin crew who obviously loved serving him. If I ever get to the stage when I fly as much as he did, I hope I manage to do so with as much charm as he had.

I wonder if all that supersonic and high altitude flying shortened his life?

It is not uncommon for the first sign of heart trouble to be like his.

Sad to lose another great journalist.

I do believe the picture of David Frost on the front page of the BBC News entertainment_and_arts page is David sitting on Concorde.

Not the most flattering portrait of him sitting there with his mouth wide open.
