OT- post theatre meal July
Mods- asking for your grace as best advise is here on this forum!
BA crowd- looking for restaurant advice in July. Will be traveling with our two sons in early July but leaving them with a nanny for one night. We will be staying at FS park lane and seeing the Book of Mormon show at the Prince of Wales. Looking for a good restaurant recommendation that is :
1) convenient - i.e. near theatre and/or hotel for post theatre
2) decidedly not for kids (don't want to be seated next to a family w kids!)
3) great food and service
4) not overly pretentious
5) not french or seafood
Thanks in advance!

I feel your pain re: point 2.
What's worse is that London is increasingly becoming a theme park for the world's rich.
Anyway I found this article - it's a few years old but might give you some ideas.

Lots of good choices there.
You might need to decide as to whether you want more fine dining (that might be covered by pretentious) or more bistro.
The restaurant which immediately came to mind for me was Cecconi's. It's on the way home, has phenomenal service, looks beautiful (based on Harry's bar in Venice) and has simple food. It is a bit pretentious, but that's London for you.
Along the lines of Dean Street Townhouse and next to it, another option which I think is slightly nicer is Quo Vadis. It's also more noticeably British.
There are a number of good restaurants right next to the FS if you're happy spending a bit more money. I'd normally recommend Galvin at Windows to visitors due to the great food and views, but it's French. There's always CUT if you want a high quality steak, or 34 for a Mayfair-based bistro/ steakhouse.

If it hasn't already, please let me do so Great place. It's also just around the corner from the legendary martini bar at Duke's which might make a nice stop-off on the way or nightcap afterwards.

The very best meal I had this year was at new Peruvian restaurant Lima http://www.limalondon.com/ - small place amazing food and some top cocktails to boot. If you go suggest the suckling pig - which was totally unlike any version of that dish I've had ever had and simply teh best thing I've eaten anywhere in the world this year. Enjoy your night sans kids!
