Where to stay in Dubai

I dont know if im allowed to ask this on BAEC forum .

But I just booked a short trip to DBX (easter & spring sale) in June (yes, I understand it will be very warm) and was looking for some advice where to stay as I have never been to Dubai. And whether I should rent a car or use public transport/taxi's?

Taxis are very cheap, clean and reliable.

Are you looking for a beach or city break?

If beach, there are loads of hotels on Jumeirah beach.

If city, downtown Dubai now seems to be the best area. This is where the Burj Khalifa is, and the Dubai Mall.

Some of the city hotels have partner hotels on the beach. So you get the best of both worlds.

When are you there? The Dubai Do starts June 20.

The Address is very nice and a good location. I also like the CP at Festival city if you want to do is relax.

If you've not been there before, taxi. Traffic is occasionally hair-raising but worse, signage is not always great and junctions change often, meaning maps and sat-navs quickly get out of date.

June will be hot but hotels will be cheap(er). I don't think you'll want to spend a lot of time on the beach during the day, but at night it can be nice. I might be tempted to go near the malls (Downtown or next to Mall of the Emirates would be my choices) and head out to beachfront hotels for dinner.

ETA: Festival City is a good choice too actually. It's a little far from, well, everything else though - but easy to get to most everywhere from it.

Dubai forum on Trip Advisor will give you loads and loads of info.
Be sure to advise them of budget and requirements ie: Beach, City, Creek etc.

Ill be in Dubai the first week of June. I'm mainly going to visit the city, i'm not very interested in lying on the beach.

I heard this is where all the russian professional women congregate.

I was just there last month and stayed at the Jumeirah Tower (I think), in the financial district. Even though the lobby was ok, I guess a business kinda lobby, my suite was incredibly nice.. Corner one, high floor and it overlooked everything. I did enjoy my stay at the hotel, service was excellent.

And am thinking of staying at their NY hotel in my upcoming trip, just to check them out.

For 1200AED and for just seeing the city, I would definitely go with The Address Downtown (not the mall one and not the marina).

I'd recommend the Sofitel.
