BA116 moving to JFK's Terminal 8 - why?
Hi,
I saw over here: http://www.panynj.gov/airports/jfk-airlines.html that BA116 will operate out of JFK's terminal 8 in March. Does anyone know why is that? Will BA move all flights to T8 in the future?
Thanks.

This isn't showing on ba.com yet if you check BA116 on a dummy booking. Maybe (hopefully) it's a mistake. I just checked myself as I would be FUMING if I can't use the CCR on my next 116
Good spot. It does seem a bit odd that one flight in the middle of the wave of evening departures has been moved. May be temporary works means a lack of stands in the evening peak?

Indeed very strange, and not showing on the BA timetable either (says T7). And strange that flight at 21:00, for a few weeks, when there are others before and after unaffected - BA174 which leaves at 19:55 and BA172 at 21:55.
As for lounges, the Flagship lounge in T8 is very good, it's definitely up there with LHR T3 and T5 Flounge in terms of comfort, almost as good on food, not as good on alcohol obviously.Great view too. I would definitely put the Flagship lounge ahead of BA's Flounge in T7. Bit of a downgrade from CCR maybe, but only the seriously demanding would complain. For Silvers and CW travellers the main AA lounge isn't so brilliant, but I'm sure they'll survive.

"Bit of a downgrade"?! The only thing that's better is the WiFi which is woeful in all the BA lounges at JFK. It's worse in terms of food, beverage and service (and IMHO decor/layout but that's a bit subjective) - which is rather the point of a decent lounge like the CCR!
I agree it's arguably better than the Flounge but that's because the Flounge is such a weak product for BA at JFK
Can't fault the AA staff as usual and it's a very decent lounge when you're on AA domestic flights but IMHO it's a serious downgrade from the CCR. If that makes me seriously demanding, I'll take that label for the first time in my life with pleasure!

The AA flagship lounge at JFK while comfortable doesn't compare in anyway to the galleries F at LHR. Period. No comparison.

Faster wifi
Option of LAN connection
More computers and printers
More power sockets
Bigger range of soft drinks
Sushi
More tables
Better light certainly than T3 and arguably T5
Better quality and range of seating
Better showers
Better WCs
Staff able to resolve problems and irrops
More telephones
Bigger work desks

Isn't it BA114 that leaves at 21:55? That's the one I'm booked on.
Anyway, back on topic; I'd be annoyed if I didn't get access to CCR, only because I want to try it at JFK! Wouldn't bother complaining though, as I'd soon get over any dissappointment.

Option of LAN connection - most passengers don't need it
More computers and printers - fair but never had a problem getting a printer ina BA lounge
More power sockets - fair
Bigger range of soft drinks - generally want water, caffeine, and/or booze but ok, fair
Sushi - love it, but generally don't want it in an airline lounge
More tables - not sure if this is really accurate but again, don't see any problem with the number of tables in BA lounges in terms of finding one when you want
Better light certainly than T3 and arguably T5 - i hate the light in the flagship lounge - very artificial and it flickers
Better quality and range of seating - to each their own - I'd call this a wash
Better showers - fair but are BA's showers that bad?
Better WCs - fair but is this really why you pick a lounge?
Staff able to resolve problems and irrops - thats's a BA problem - not a lounge problem but definitely agree
More telephones - how many people really use them
Bigger work desks - fair
thoughts above. You have valid points but to me it doesn't compare to the far more aesthetically pleasing spaces (especially T5) and the vastly superior food and drink selections at the Galleries Lounges.
