Op Up Ratio

Inspired by a thread over on the LH forum I thought it'd be interesting to compare what level of op-up ratio we encounter when flying BA and get a little comparison on whether we are more or less beloved by BA than others of the same status level...

BA Gold:
ET-->CE: 0%
WTP-->CW: 50%
CW-->F: 10%

back when I was Silver:
ET-->CE: 0%
WTP-->CW: 90%
CW-->F: 0%

and back when Blue:
ET-->CE: 0%
CW-->F: 0%

I can't recall from when I was silver, but here goes.

Gold:
WT-->WTP: 25%
WTP-->CW: 33%
CW-->F: 5%
ET-->CE: 5%

I travel on elite heavy routes through, unfortunately.

GGL
CW - F 50% (yes, I know that is high but can produce detailed evidence)
ET - CE 5%

Don't fly WT or WT+

Gold
CW - F 5%
ET - CE 1%

Also had upgrades on CX and AA

0%, I always just buy (via Avios) the class I want to fly in, which has been F in the last few years.

As a Gold card holder - on the seven occasions last year that I was booked in CW and the one occasion in ET, I was upgraded 0% of the time.

In line with the oft repeated advice, I always expect to travel in the class that I have booked.

Edited to add: a quick look at my Flight Diary on ba97.com, shows that I was last upgraded in October 2009, and it did help that I had connections with ground staff at the out station. The flight was overbooked in CW, so I may have been upgraded anyway.

Over the past 10 years as Gold, I think twice from Berlin to London, and once (last year) from C to F.

Since becoming Gold 3 years ago I have 100% success ET-CE on LGW-AMS (5 times) but no other upgrades, averaging 70 sectors a year.

I'm about the same, maybe a whisker higher on CW, and perhaps 25% on my rare attempts at ET. I've never flown WT or WT+ (but I must try it one day).

It's very much route and date dependent. Some HKGs are heaving so a good upgrade there, sometimes it's not so full. Mid East is another good example.

I've had 1 single upgrade in AA in umpteen years with them, and vastly more downgrades. Quite a few with CX and even one or two with dear Qantas

You should come with me on one of my regular trips to SYD in Y.

As blue, 0%. As silver and gold, about the same rate for both (two op-ups in one year for each tier) for a grand total of 4 op-ups, which is probably about 5%.

Mmmm, I was thinking I'd try it out on something like CAI or TLV actually.... You deserve a medal!

Zero, nothing, not ever. One of the penalties of always flying as a couple on a not-very-congested route.

With all due respect, but a lot of anecdote does not make evidence. This sort of random data is pretty meaningless. It will also lead to incorrect interpretations of the post hoc ergo propter hoc type.

For example, as a Silver I have had quite a few CW-F upgrades, where you report none.
