A Couple of old Heathrow Films for a bad weather weekend...........

If you're bored this weekend, I have a couple of old Ealing Studios films that my Flyertalk friends may appreciate. Please, if you download them, only use the download to watch it personally as sharing them onwards, converting the avi format and burning on to DVD or distributing them will probably violate someone's copyright somewhere along the line, even if most of the actors are no longer with us. It is my intention only to share them amongst friends, and I will delete the content after a few days to prevent unauthorised distribution.

Brilliant. Thanks!

added: I already finished the first one! It's pretty gloomy here in NYC today.

Oh, how lovely, and thank you!

Only 2 minutes in to the first one … and it's nice to see the Local Comtroller smoking, and a Captain driving a Hillman Minx "like what I had" as a pilot officer! Oh, and a multi-channel Hadley Squawk Box. I'm rather whelmed already!

Ooh, and a real talk down from a proper GCA truck!! I like (not) the "400 feet, Talkdown out." I used to get a terse "Keep talking" in conditions like that!!

Great to see some films on what life was like back then.....it was a bit before my time.

Can't be many if any of those actors still alive.

Still downloading for personal consumption only. Only 2 hours to go

Fascinating to see things I did (like the GCA, and smoking in the Tower ) and aircraft both I and my father flew in. God, it almost makes me feel young again!

Incidentally, that talkdown "30 feet high" is gibberish. There's no way, on a ancient logarithmic GCA display, you could determine that. You are either "slightly above", "above" or "well above" the glide path (or worse, "… below").

Thank you for sharing. Loved the first one, but makes me miss the old control tower already and they are only still just taking it down .

Goodness T8191, people sure were forward in matters of the heart in your day

On to the second now.
