However little ££ GGL can be attained for, it still involves an incredible amount of time in airports and onboard aircraft so don't forget to add private psychiatrist consultation costs to the mix. About £100 a session (so I've been told )
For those that have CCR Cards, very little personal spend I should imagine. The vast majority is company expense.
Mine comes from personal spend and many of those I know who also have CCR cards from largely personal spend. That said I wouldn't see the point of doing 5 long jaunts around the US and the back and forth between US and UK simply for a CCR card.
TP's are a loose correlation with spend (if that spend is on BA) but if BA see a trend towards those earning GGL or CCR just from AA or other TP runs then I would also expect that BA will look to follow the LH path and only count BA and IB metal spend towards these benefits. I personally think this is the way that things will go and I would welcome that.
I'm heading for a CCR card / 5000 TPs by end Feb / early March. This will have cost approximately £27k in revenue to BA over an 8 month period which is certainly towards the lowest end for getting to such a level.
This will be (paid) 32 x WT+ sectors, 2 x CWLCYs, 8 x F sectors and, I think 3 x CW sectors. Of these 47 sectors, 4 have been op-ups from my paid class to the next one up...
I think it could be done for about £3.5k with a bit of effort, but it would take a seriously crazy individual to attempt it! I have two ex-EU CW / F trips to Maui scheduled this year, along with various other leisure trips to the US, so expect I will hit 5k points with a total spend of £10k.

It would certainly trim the numbers in the lounges a bit, and as I can get my poor-relation GC on BA alone quite easily it wouldn't bother me too much either. But my spend is a fair bit higher than others on this thread to get to GC by the sound of it. I don't chase points, but travel because I need to accruing 2500-2900 (never the magic 3000) TPs year on year, mostly BA to far east and Australia. That all costs around £20k (with substantially discounted corporate fares), plus another £2-3k of personal spend.

I dunno about the cost there. 5 x creatively-routed ex ATH -US west coast trips could've achieved this for around £7K. But I wouldn't spend that for a CCR card.
I reckon my Gold card has cost about £4k in flights. Just curious what the average spend for the "elite" level is.

To make you feel better Yahillwe, my last booking was £3500 and was for 250tp. As it happens I managed to trim the trip cost down substantially while out there so only spent £2400 on 240tp.
I too travel only when I need to go somewhere (an overseas office) to perform a task that either can't be done remotely, or would have major ramifications if it failed. The weeks away from home each year, working 16 hour days, bring benefits (gold card, miles), and the work is rewarding. Status comes as a consequence of travel, and makes travel more bearable. Travel does not come as a consequence of status.
