I agree with Uncle Dude - I haven't set foot inside the Terraces since getting my shiny card
There is a very useful Lounge Database in the Dashboard sticky at the top of the page which you may wish to have a look at - lots of information there about the differences.

I fully agree that you should use the F lounge if you can (as BAEC GCH or OWE). If entitlement is due to flying BA (as opposed to other OW) F, then you should use Concorde Room, which is another notch up on F lounge.
Also, whilst F lounge has better premium drinks including vintage Champagne, I hear that you can get ice cream in the Club lounges.
I've used terraces when FLounge is busy. In particular, if you're going from B terminal, the gallery lounge there is a haven of peace and quiet in comparison with any of the A lounges. Last month when I was there, the south A gallery was much nicer to sit in than the FLounge, although this is not normally the case. The food in the terraces isn't as good, but if you want food you are better of in plane food than either of the lounges IMHO. I'm assured the wine is better in the FLounge too, although I'm no connoisseur.
NOTE : Just in case there is a confusion, the FLounge is for passengers with emerald membership in OW. If you are travelling F on BA then you can use the Concord room, which is another thing entirely. If there is no confusion, my apologies.

I suppose not being elegible to enter F lounges, just travel CW...but might upgrade once..

If you upgrade you can use the Concorde Room which is a further step above the First Lounge, which is more intimate and exclusive and offers additional food and beverage options and facilities not available in the F lounge
Some users on here seem to prefer the F lounge though and the self service amenities it offers, personally I much prefer the Concorde Room

The F lounge is great..having been through the hallowed doors of the concorde room a few times in 2012, be prepared for disappointment.. At the end of the day its just a room with a few nice chairs and sofas, which the F lounge also has. Every time in the concorde room ive been disappointed with the booze selection, champers is the same as the F lounge...cabanas are ok if you havent slept on a night flight, but again, dont expect them to be like a hotel room.

+1
I have only been in CCR once and after one beer and some food I swiftly went to galleries first. Food seem to be the same. F-lounge is much larger and I like the concept of "help yourself" to the drinks

If you hunt the relevant threads here you will see that actually the Concorde Room has quite a number of food options not available in Flounge. In particular there are 3 Concorde Room menus, for breakfast, rest of the day, and pre flight supper, which have a number of items not available in Flounge. Particularly the last menu.
But if you did upgrade to First, there is a case to wander into Flounge first, to see what is available, then go into Concorde Room. That way you can order anything from Flounge as well as the CCR specials.
There are additional wine options in CCR not available in Flounge. I've never known CCR to run out of the Laurent-Perrier either.

CCR is nice if dining in company of others, otherwise the F Lounge has my preference.
The Club galleries in T5 are actually pretty good (albeit often very busy). We are pretty spoiled with the facilities in T5 and it's easy to overlook how good they are compared to what you find in most other places around the world.

Thats pretty much my one experience of the CCR, I was a little bewildered by the whole thing having MFUed from WT+ to CW and then an op up to F was probably all I could deal with that day!!
Next time in Feb I am going to make sure that I take full advantage of the facilities on offer

Indeed. I've used them three times since getting my gold card, and I have no problem with them whatsoever. I do miss the JW blue though...
