Recently flew CE to Venice and the food offering was three finger sandwiches and a scone. In ET, they were given a chicken fajita wrap.
Having had the wrap on a previous ET flight it is more substantial than the three fingers in CE.
Have we got to stage where the food offering in ET is better than CE?
Well, the food in ET isn't better. The wrap is mostly processed white bread and some small filling with chicken. Ok, the meal is more substantial, but better? No.
However, the food offerings in CE must improve. The time slots for brunch/lunch and afternoon tea must be revised. It's not acceptable to have "extended breakfast" at 12.30pm (actual time of delivery).

I think the CE catering is significantly better quality.
I would be in favour of scrapping the extended breakfast and afternoon tea entirely, replacing them with the standard breakfast and lunch/dinner options applicable to the band of the flight.

Not sure I agree. The sandwiches in CE were a little stale (as they have been on previous trips); the wrap in ET is fresh.
You should have gone behind the curtain and shouted " Anyone prepared to swap their fajita for my finger sandwiches? ".
If the swap included the scone, jam and cream I would have helped you out.

I am tempted to try that this week - even if they do not serve finger sandwiches.
It would be fun to see random impromptu FT meet ups? CE traveller opens curtain; shouts "Anyone prepared to swap their fajita ..." and the FT'er(s) in cattle class should respond by showing a carry on with FT label

By the way, if the cream is missing from the CE tray the going "service recovery" rate is 2 bottles of Pommery to take away with you...

CE afternoon tea v Euro Traveller wrap
More likely that the strawberry jam will be missing as this is not put on the tray with all the other afternoon tea items, but kept in a separate drawer! Crew have to put it on the tray and can forget. Hardly surprising as this is quite absurd!

Little Fruitcake and I were given a duck wrap in ET to and from CPH just after Christmas. It was not to our tastes and just went back. In fact, the CC collected back very many of these things. I saw a very few pax eat them but an afternoon tea would have been much nicer.
I thought it was a bit odd to give a fairly 'specialist' flavour, i.e. duck, with no other option. There was a veggie wrap too, I think, but the CC didn't want to offer it widely. I expect this was because so many would have wanted it.

I don't think there's any harm asking for food from economy when you're in business class as long as you make it clear that you'd only want it if there's anything left after the service run is complete.

+1
Have been very successful with getting one of the delicious ET cookies on the shorter sectors to act as dessert for after my CE salad.

No I don't think that should be done.....it only devalues the ET product.
