Does anyone now how to find out if a particular flight or route is return crewed, i.e if flying outbound to an outstation from LHR does the crew return on the same aircraft inbound to LHR or overnight at the outstation and return the following day.
Whilst I'm sure you have a good reason for asking (including idle curiosity), this is one of those subjects that's likely to generate a degree of discomfort, rather like asking which hotels crew use. It's about security, of course.
You're unlikely to get a definitive answer but you can probably make an educated guess based on:
- sector length, i.e. anything over 4(?) hours would exceed daily duty hours
- whether there are multiple services per day
- reading threads like 'can I turn around immediately at airport XXX and what will the crew say ?'

Perhaps the OP wants to do a TP run out and back on the same aircraft but doesnt want the same crew for both so that he/she doesnt have to explain the reasons to the cabin crew

So what is yor reason for wanting to know this OP?

I think it was a suggested response to crew questions:
"Hello Sir.... Hang on!....Weren't you on the outbound flight just now you weirdo?"
"Change of plans, sigh."
OP - if this is the reason behind your question, don't worry about it. The crew will have seen stranger stuff and will probably not recognise you anyway. If you are still worried, how about wearing hat outbound

Hope that hasn't caused offence.
There isn't any 4 hour daily limit, there is a 13 hour daily limit that can go up or down a bit depending on various things (for example timezones crossed or how long off duty before hand), and there are weekly, fortnightly, monthly, and yearly limits as well. But no daily 4 hour limit

The route is LHR/LCA
I don't believe the respondent to your OP was implying their was a 4 hour duty limit. But, if you do the math, 2 x 4 hour sectors, with report time, clear time, turnaround, generally gets a crew nearer to the duty limit, so they tend to be the longest sectors that are return crewed.

Very true. really the crew does not care why you are flying. last Jan there were 200+ who were doing ten RT ORD LAX. Often returning on the same aircraft and crew.
The smart crew knew there was Mileage Running season due to AA promo.

???
There was no reference to any 4 hour daily limit by dunk. He simply said that - as one amongst other factors - you can "probably" make an "educated guess" by looking at the length of the sector.
