10K Avios for broken seat. Fair or not?

Just a really quick one: wife and I given 10k ex-gratia service recovery Avios each for having to share a broken seat in WT from MRU to LGW on our honeymoon. Never complained before so was just interested to see if that is the 'going rate' for such prolems. We were happy with it even though nothing happened until I chased by phone 2 months after writing.

Thanks and happy new year to all!

Received 15,000 for a broken CW footrest back in June.

Given the cabin class I guess that's fairly conformal. Waiting to hear "how broken" though.

BTW, like the OP's CrabAir Blue - now get some time in!!

One passenger spends some time sitting in the broken seat while the other sits in the seat that is not broken. Then the passengers switch for some time.

Wife's seat did not recline at all and it was a night flight. We shared it by swapping with the good one half way through the night so we could get at least some sleep each.

I had the same seat as on the way out 8 days before (same aircraft- reg # was on galley bulkhead) and so also mentioned the fact that the reading light was still broken even having reported it to the crew. Seemed like a lot of things were u/s on that jet!

Was it 20,000 Avios in total you got? If so it seems fair enough to me.

Looks like it - that seems fair enough to me on the basis of cabin travelled and BAEC status.

I was offered only very slightly more than that for aircraft going tech and 12 hour delay in getting to my destination, so on that basis 10k for a broken seat seems fair...

At the risk of sounding pompous, the OP has had his answer and has gratefully acknowledged that.

Could we leave it here, and just go back to the original compensation thread?

Yep, think we should Sir!!! Are you heading for moderation?

To the O.P.

Glad you are happy. I would not be. 10,000 Avios would cost me just over £30.00 in Trashco vouchers. It's a long flight, overnight, so that is about £2.50 an hour.

You were on your honeymoon. Not good enough B.A.

No, T8191 is auditioning to replace Hiddy as board curmudgeon!

To get back on topic, 10,000 avios doesn't seem enough for a broken seat all the way to MRU.
