With much thanks to this forum I am taking my mum to Vegas for her 60th next August: first class, 241, paid for with miles. Very happy chap... and very happy mum.
On both the outward and inward we have seats 2A and 2K reserved (1A and 1K are taken both ways). I've been to Vegas before but years ago. I recall the airport was pretty central (we stayed at the Luxor and watched the planes take off in the distance).
Anyhow, I'd like to ensure mum gets a good view of Vegas as we approach. Could I trouble you knowledgeable people for a seat recommendation of where to sit her please.
I've read a fair bit too about NF and OF... hoping it is NF, though at the end of the day it's F as that pretty special for me (nice thing is that mum knows I am taking her to Vegas but she doesn't know we are flying F).
If I recall, there's a thread somewhere on this forum about the best side of the plane to choose coming into different airports. I'm not at a computer just now so can't be more helpful that that but you could maybe do a search? Either that or some helpful soul will post the link soon!
Enjoy first - it's a great experience and I'm sure your mum will love it! There's also a thread about maximising the First experience - that's probably worth a read.
It depends on which way you land, and on which runway.
On my last visit, we came in towards the strip, turned left very low, and did the last mile or so parallel to the strip. So, I got a great view from 1K
Unfortunately, that was probably the highlight of the flight...
Not to nit pick, but.... Luxor??? Like driving the Bentley to a Travelodge. Stay somewhere better boss unless you or your mum have some kind of ancient Egyptian fetish.

I agree
Top end :-
Mandarin Oriental - The best. No gaming
Middle / High :-
Aria (next door to MO) - good
MGM Signature
Encore
Vdara (No smoking - next to Casino but no casino in Hotel)
Cosmopolitan - never stayed there but restuarants and Casino are Nice
I think I would go with the MO if it were just me, but I know mum would want a Vegas style hotel - complete OTT, with Casino, larger than life. More so than 5* luxury. Thanks for the tips though guys.
After F on BA only Mandarin Oriental can keep the "A" grade quality level
believe me its worth it. Great Bar, great restaurant, great spa / gym and fantastic rooms
You will not be disappointed
Glad to hear that...just booked MO strip view room....sadly our inter US flights are with DL from JFK as AA instant upgrade price was outrageous....unless I did a TP run via SJU or MIA or swap planes 5 times......Mrs C wasn't up for that
OT now all I need to do is find out how much/mechanics of paying cash to upgrade our return flight from JFK (currently UuA to CW).... Won't let me do anything to booking via MMB called BA and they've said no changes to fare are possible unless its at the airport...it's v odd as we're 3 months out still
Location: A Brit living in Los Angeles, California

If you are on a 747, they always land from the east, so the strip will be on your right when landing. Unless there are weather issues and they bring you in the opposite way, then I would suggest you just on the lap of the one of the passengers in the A seats. Have fun.
