CW... worth it?

Hi all,

I'm heading to India at the very beginning of April. Managed to catch some excellent WT+ fares (less than £700) although my journey is not one of absolute ease.

Option 1 on the outbound to fly to Bangalore or Chennai. If I fly to Bangalore, I can MFU to Club, arrive at 0430 and either catch 2 indian domestic flights down to Madurai (final destination), or fly to Chennai in WT+ (no MFU option) and catch the one flight. Option 2 is a lot easier, although CW is a lot more comfortable and it's no extra cash apart from the £30 or so for the extra taxes.

What do we all think? I did option 1 6 months ago and am fairly familiar with indian chaos, although that initial journey out was pretty tiring. Both flights are on the 3-class 777.

Thanks!

I would fly the most direct route, and hope that a POUG is offered in MMB, or at the airport.

Fly shorter and enjoy WTP, it's better than CW in many ways.

What are the many ways that WTP is better than CW?

The main reason I would choose CW is to get some sleep/ help with the jetlag (since service and food on BA is not much better). Since you'll arrive at 4:30 it's likely that this won't help you at all from these two points of view so it's not worth it in my opinion. Fly direct.

Please do share indeed.

If it was the US, I'd take the 2 domestic flights. Since it is India, I would take the shortest available route.

In general CW is always worth it.

In this specific situation, anything is worth saving an Indian domestic flight, so go with WT+ and look at snapping an upgrade at 72/ 48 hours out.

I've spent 10min on this.

Is it that on some flights WT+ can get out below CW?

I've not come up with anything else just yet, unless you're the kind of oddball who prefers WT+ snacks and wine but who won't go back to their kitchen to nab any.

The flight to MAA is at 09:30 ; for a morning departure like that I would take the WT+ option and reduce the number of flights needed

CW is much nicer on a night flight, but on a daytime service WT+ is pretty reasonable

The OP might well be needing to transfer from "the other" London airport so a later departure might ex LHR might be better for the OP.

You're young....stop being a wussy.

When I was your age I'd have been over the moon with WT+. Hang on a min...when I was your age economy was like WT+.

I've got one; how about you can now watch AVOD during take-off and landing in WT+. In fact that must make it better than F too...
