Ok I'm going to light the blue touch paper and stand well back here.
Me, mrs Joely and sprog Joely are going to Geneva sometime in march, I'm a silver (although maybe gold by then). So given that we will be in ET and my wife has no status (I'll just leave that one hanging ) will my 8 month old daughter be allowed in the lounge or will she breach the one guest rule?
I've done some searching through the forums but found it hard to find an answer in all the vitriol around what a terrible person anyone is who would consider disturbing people with a baby.
You may find the agent is feeling kind, but to the letter of the rules, children 3 and over are classed as guests. Of course if they are travelling in a class that permits lounge access, they can access the applicable lounge.

Thanks, sounds a little unreasonable, but so be it.

Q: are you sure it's "2 and under" for lounge access? That's not how I read that page you linked.
For the actual flying bit, it's definitely "under 2" = infant [can sit on parent's lap], "2 and older" = child [needing own seat...]

Genuis1 is wrong (or at least not completely right ) and shorthauldad is right in this case I'm afraid - once they turn two they suddenly turn from being an infant to a child in the eyes of BA, and need their own seat... and start counting as a guest for lounge access.

What happens if you decide to guest the wife and leave the kids outside?
I have been wondering about a variation on that for some time:
Approach lounge entrance but do not enter yet. Park child in quiet corner. Enter lounge with wife as guest. Wait 60 seconds, quietly exit the lounge leaving wife in the lounge. Collect child, and go to the shops.
Would definitely win brownie points from the wife, on two counts: (a) an hour or two of lounge access, and (b) an hour or two of no child!
PS, I am aware that there would be the minor issue of leaving my son unaccompanied for 60 seconds. Well, what could go wrong? How much chaos could a 3 year-old cause in 60 seconds?

You do actually have a 3 year-old, don't you.....
.... maybe not start World War III, but I have seen complete melt-downs in less than 60 seconds
