You're not the only one. I allow just an extra service contingency, so I can still conform even if I miss the target HEX. I'd have been in trouble today in that direction, however BA would probably be a bit sympathetic in this situation. But what a day for this to happen.

I'm on the HEX now. Only the shuttle between terminals is operating. They're still insisting on that stupid security check before you're allowed to board the train at T5 even though they don't on the tube therefore rendering the check pointless.
It said on the news earlier that two out of the four great western lines were out of use due to the fire. Apparently long distance express trains are operating but not local services. Shame they couldn't fit the HEX in even if it was half hourly.
I took the tube this morning as normal. Off the plane at 07:27 (domestic arrival), down the escalator to tube, at Hammersmith by 08:15. Obviously guaranteed a seat.
Heathrow express takes 22 minutes, plus an extra 5 minutes on average to wait, plus time from Paddington, is 15 minutes (if that) really worth the extra £17?

I flikflak between HEX and the tube. I typically go from LHR to Liverpool Street and there's not much in it either time-wise or comfort. HEX is a more civilised but involves more hassle with the changes.

I jus got home from a trip, and usually take the HEx home... Had to do the tube today too... Lord, that was an experience... I think I also fell asleep on the man next to me... If that was you, sorry... *blush*
Anyways... I spoke to my friend who is a manager on the HEx, and don't be to hopeful of it being back in service tomorrow people. It would seem that the good old LFB went in a bit heavy handed, and have made a right mess of the main feed electricity supply to the sub station which serves the section of line that is effected, and it could be at least another 20-24 hours before they are able to start running trains again.
Maybe best to look at alternative options and have a backup plan if you are travelling this evening and tomorrow, just in case.
