Order paper tickets?

Can you still request paper tickets for a fee? I've had a Google and the information and can't find a definitive answer. Thought it'd be nice for a birthday surprise.

I dont think so, but i know that for some reason BA do still issue paper tickets for some things.

My uncle had one recently issued for a reward flight ex DUB

No.

And it was only certain select routes/countries where these were still required that it was possible and BA did them/accepted them, however I believe all of these have gone now too. And for years if eTickets were valid on the itin, then they would not accept paper.

Certainly from an IATA perspective, they are dead.

In operational terms, any air service operator would be free to give you anything they wanted (that complied with their regulatory environment), say a golden coin token-for-travel, etc or a paper ticket, if they wished.

Was it issued by the airline who honoured it? And the paper was actually the ticket itself, not just a print out of the eticket, with ticket number on it? Was it flying some place odd? Or on an odd airline? Did it involve a childs ticket?

I thought (officially) all remaining requirments had now gone in normal circumstances.

---

However I'm certain you can't get one unless your travel needs one for some reason. As I said, an airline could issue anything itwants for itself, but BA policy has been no paper unless needed for years.

I had a normal WT+ HEL-LHR-JFK booking some time ago. I woke up a bit late and was at the airport 2 minutes before scheduled departure time.

Surprisingly, they wouldn't let me check in anymore

Went to the ticketing office, changed the HEL-LHR to a later flight (changes for 150EUR fee before first flight departs-rule), and got a paper ticket for the new flight.

I know for sure that AA will categorically no longer accept paper tickets. They've shut down their handling.

Reminder: 06OCT12

Effective 01NOV12, AA will no longer accept ATB/Paper tickets for travel on AA. Please refer to ETRONLY for a list of carriers that currently do not accept paper tickets.
And ETRONLY reads:
Quote:

Travel agencies have been notified directly by these Airlines, and are responsible for ensuring that they do not issue ATB tickets inappropriately (including 001/AA Documents).

Not seen paper tickets for long time either and was actually shocked when QF sent me compensation as a paper ticket voucher earlier this year.
When tried to use it, it turned out to be nightmare as even couldn't use on online bookings and the call centre was baffled how to put it in the system. As result ended up doing a trip to the airport to the ticket office...

BA/QF was attempting to issue a paper ticket for a routing earlier this year. In the end I decided it was far too much faff as it would involve international postage to my empty house.

Get them on SU a lot still if you book via an office or agent and can still get BA ones if you buy via agent or part of a package over here

Pardon my curiosity but why would you want one?

You can obviously request a print-out of more or less any e-ticket ...

I organised a trip to NYC for my parents recently (book WTP, UuA, fly CW), it was a birthday present for my Dad, and their first ever l/h with BA , so once it was booked & ticketed I had the e-tickets printed out, did this at T5 one day and they even put them in a little BA-branded paper wallet ("your tickets...")

Obviously, the paperwork had "e-ticket" printed all over it but, to the uninitiated (i.e. my parents!) this was "the ticket"

It was rather nicer to have something to actually give my Dad on his birthday ... rather than, say, texting him the PNR
