You know, having a seat in such a decrepit condition in clear view of all customers bothers me, irrespective of the row and row immediately aft being blocked. I appreciate the alternative, which I suppose was taking the aircraft out of service wouldn't have been popular for either the passengers or crew. But still, in my humble opinion customers should never see this.

+1
I couldn't agree more. BA should not have operated the aircraft in that condition.

If I was a "normal" punter and saw the condition of this seat, what impression does it give off? Engines being held on by duck tape and the wings by No More Nails?

Very poor BA.
duct tape
I think i'd rather get home though, than have to be rebooked because of the aesthetics of a broken seat.
Why disgraceful? They would hardly not operate an aircraft with all the added cost just because a seat back is missing.
Because a photo like this can help destroy a corporate image. This was in a CE Cabin. There are threads every day on this forum about how BA are not up to par with other Worldwide carriers vs. their CE Equivalent Products - this does nothing to help, and only ads to the fuel.
