BAEC Gold GGL and Concorde Room Card !

Hi,

So GGL is achieved in two ways :

1. Attain 5000 Avios points in a membership year.

2. Attain 3000 Avios points in two consecutive membership years.

My question is this,it states on the BAEC site, that a Concorde Card is given out when achieving the 5000 Avios points in a membership year rule, but do they also give one out on the second rule of achieving 3000 Avios points in two consecutive years !.

Many Thanks.

No they dont.
GGL = 2x3000 or 1x5000, CCR = 1x5000.

Tier Points not Avios points (miles) - there's a big difference.

Oops, yes of course its Tier Points

Well i will easily get 2500 Tier points in my current membership year and get the 2 for 1 upgrade, probably also do two years running at 3000 tier points and get the GGL card and have the Joker to use,no way i will get 5000 in one year though, unless i do a few AA Tier point runs in the US,not worth spending a couple of grand extra for the sole use of the concorde lounge though.

Must say i was not really impressed a couple of months ago when i got my Gold card and went into Galleries First lounge for the first time at T5,its a little less crowded and the food is a tad better, other than that nothing special, people go on about the champagne bar, nothing special there neither, they do have Johnnie Walker Blue Label though.

And you're comparing this to what? A Michelin-starred restaurant, or another airline waiting rooms?

In reply to your rather condescending answer,no i am just making a simple comparison to the BA Galleries Club lounges also at T5.

Will you waste your time replying,i will not, better things to do than get into a spat with someone who obviously has had a sense of humour bypass operation.

Sorry for the tone, I realised it came out a bit condescending after I sent it, I didn't mean it to sound like that (foreigners, damn the language barrier!)

I do think the difference between GC and GF is noticeable. Food is loads better, drinks as well, and most of the time GF is a haven of peace and quiet compared to the zoo that GC sometimes is.

CCR isn't *that* impressive either, but it's just a fancy waiting room. I wouldn't do a TP run for the CCR card, although I would for a GGL just for better disruption handling. Not that I would need to do a TP run, however.

I'd find a CCR card useful to get fast access to the First lounge after south security . The Concorde lounge is a treat once in a while but I prefer self service.

If you are in T5 or T7 very regularly then I think it's great to have the option, so it depends a bit on how often you are passing through. No point getting that unshiny white card if you can't actually use it.

Personally I think Flounge is massively better than Galleries, and CCR a further several notches up. Particularly in the last few months as the new contract with Do&Co has been embedded. Also I rather suspect that Flounge will become less crowded as some of the BMI status matchers filter out.

LHR has a T7?

c-w-s is referring to LHR T5 and JFK T7 for those not familiar with the secret BAEC speak

The best feature of the CCR card is access to the JFK CCR which is dramatically better than the Flounge. The difference isn't so marked at LHR T5 but the CCR is still better than the Flounge and you always have the option to wander next door.if you choose.

I thought based on what was said at the recent GGL event, the contracts were still out to tender - it's still the Compass folks isn't it (I see plenty of the same staff still)? If not, when did this change?

I am sure it's Do&Co management now, and has been for a few months. The staff were presumably TUPE'd, but I haven't asked them about it.
