BA said the job cuts would affect senior cabin crew staff who worked exclusively on either its long or short-haul flights, and not those who worked across both.
Getting rid of the more expensive senior staff, except for those on the new Mixed Fleet contract? Or did I read that wrong?

Yip... Cutting 400 crew, made up of Pursers on Worldwide/Eurofleet and CSDs on Eurofleet, numbers then to be made up by 400 new main crew on Mixed Fleet.
VR been offered...

I've taken the liberty of updating the thread title (was "Less Cabin Crew"), which will hopefully focus the discussion on this significant news item rather than being deflected by the grammar police.
This will make space for BA to back fill with new recruits on new contracts and different working conditions and less money. (aka Mixed Fleet).
Not fewer money?

Less is correct in this use case. It's customary to use "less" rather than "fewer" to describe time, money and distance. Since Cabin Crew are the exemplar juxtaposition of time, money and distance, it is obvious prima facie that we should use "Less".

Do we have to prepare for another round of strikes from LHR? Will Bassa accept any kind of cuts irrespective of the terms?
Voluntary redundancy should be OK, I'd have thought?
I hope the VR package will be sufficient to give impetus to those who no longer wish to be working in customer-facing roles to leave. I have had enough comparatively poor flights recently to say that there are crew members who probably would be better off not working in the roles, and if they choose to take the voluntary redundancy, it would be good for them, us and BA.

Are Gatwick staff excluded?
The Sun (sorry...) which seemed to get the story first, quotes union sources saying that there would only be action if the cuts were compulsory. In the same piece BA say that they expect there to be strong demand for the voluntary offer.
