I have just booked AMS-HEL-SIN-SYD in I class for Feb 2013 on Finnair (plus BA or QF codeshare but sadly no A380 I could find) for £1444 (plus £20 Amex fee) at lastminute.com so thats 640TPs 25364 miles in one go.

Very good price indeed, it's less than my Y ticket exSYD on QF via SIN next week.

That's a great spot thanks. Booked AMS-SYD 30 Mar and SYD-AMS 17 Aug for the same price and managed to get the new A330 layout!

Shame about the 12 hours in BKK each way, but I'm sure the savings will compensate.

I'm even inclined to book more flights for later in the year!

It's not much more than my YQ on a CW redemption.

The A330 has flat beds. The A340 has sloping beds. Usually one of the two daily BKK flights is an A330 . This can be confirmed on finnair.com before booking.

That is a fantastic deal. Instant silver too, and not crazily circuitous at all, with the long stretches where it matters for sleep.

My two comments on this, not that it detracts from the bargain pricing (especially the Bangkok variant) are:

1) Finnair do swap around equipment a lot, in my experience, so I would not take the flat bed seat for granted (and indeed you may end up with it when you expect the slope). So don't wear chinos or shortened trousers.

2) The connections at SIN in both directions are reasonable but on the tight side of reasonableness. This would cause me no huge concern, other than that AY manage to be worse than BA at handling irrops. This seems particularly so at HKG, but they have tried to fob me off at SIN with ludicrous rerouting options involving 4 sectors to SYD, one of which downgraded to Y, and 3 airlines.

You can route via SIN, BKK or HKG on this fare and have free stopovers.

Thumbs up

Cracking deal! Whatever product Finnair must surely be okay in light of the price, TPs etc.

Yes, I noticed that too. And availability seems pretty good - even in the summer hols.

I've never really wanted to go to Oz, but this may make me change my mind.
