can I take check luggage into lounge?

Hey all.

Again I hope this is not a silly a question.

I arrive into LHR at 7am and I am thinking of catching a coach service to victoria station but that would not leave until around 10am. So my plan was to chill in the lounge until that time.

Now during those 3 hours what would happen to my check baggage? Could I pick it up and take it in the lounge with me? I am not sure were the lounge is located in reference to baggage claim and stuff so I am trying to figure out the logistics of it all.

Oh i think i will be arriving in Terminal 5 since this is an international flight

Thanks

I assume you qualify for accessing the Arrivals Lounge. Only those arriving on a long haul flight in CW or F or BA Gold Card holders arriving on a long haul flight are eligible for Arrivals Lounge access.

If you do indeed have access, you will need to collect your luggage first because it is after the baggage hall (it's on the land side). There is a manned baggage storage area in the lounge.

Thanks! i will be flying in CW. I am trying to figure all this out lol This is an international move for me and I was not thrilled at the thought of having to lug luggage through London in order to get to the coach station. So this will help a bunch

Out of interest, where is your final destination? It sounds as if you are heading to Victoria to catch a coach. There are a surprisingly large number of coaches that depart from the arrivals level at T5 to quite a few places around the UK. I'm not meaning to be nosey, I just want to check you are not taking an unnecessary detour with a lot of luggage given it sounds as if you are emigrating.

I don't use the coach service but I'd be surprised if the first one doesn't leave till 10am.

As suggested, if you're happy to share a bit more information about what you're trying to do we may be able to suggest something more convenient all round.

Hey

Yes I am heading to the Coach station. My final destination is Loughborough. I know there is a coach from T5 to Loughborough however that is almost 50 pounds according to the quote on national express

I can get a ticket from T5- to Victoria.... and Victoria to Loughborough and still come out cheaper than 50 pounds..

and no worries I didn't take it as being nosey. If anyone know of a better way for me to accomplish this I am all ears.

Victoria coach station is a bit rough, and with luggage it won't be so pleasant to transfer between buses anywhere anyway.
It also adds a lot to the travel time.

I'd definitely take the direct coach to Loughborough if I were you, even if the difference was £20-30.

Yes the difference was about 30 pounds. lol That is why I was considering that option.

I am waiting for my school to get back to me but usually they have a free coach for students from Heathrow to Loughborough but it is offered for first term. I am hoping I will luck out and they have the option also for 2nd term starters.

I hope you get lucky too. You'll probably feel pretty horrible arriving at that hour so anything that simplifies the journey to Loughborough is going to be good.

I wouldn't fancy hanging around for a few hours to take a bus to Victoria and change to another bus there. But it is certainly possible.

It doesn't look like there are direct coaches to Loughborough from T5 and you would need to connect somewhere anyway. Whilst Victoria is not the best place in London, if you have to connect somewhere and that is the cheapest option, I would have to agree with you that you should go for that option. Not great but at least you can get a shower and breakfast beforehand.

Fingers crossed your uni will lay on transport for you instead though as that will be much easier.

You're paying for club world, but won't drop £30 on a direct coach?

I'd rather fly WTP and hire a car to be honest.

Tube into London (St Pancras) and then train to Loughborough.

Book in advance and the train ticket should be about 20 quid.

the only thing about tube is then I have to deal with the luggage right? while i am trying not to bring my whole life over I am thinking i might end up with 2 check bags and my carry on...

and for that snarky comment on what i am willing to drop money on. I did not purchase my ticket. it was brought with the use of flyer miles and generous family members paying the difference also brought through another site were the prices were better than the one quoted on ba.com.

This international move is straining my pockets with all these fees i have had to "drop" money on, so yeah if i can get around spending 50 pounds then i will.

As someone stated earlier there are no direct coaches from t5- to loughborough either way it goes I will have to change somewhere.
