FT Experts Can you help me get to the Philippines?

Good Afternoon

I need to get to the Philippines to visit a young lady why does it always involve a woman?

I need to use 6 days holiday up before new year so was thinking of doing a friday-friday in december just before christmas totally flexible on dates as i will be going back again hopefully in january

Now this is where i need your help! i would like to fly with my favourite Airline BA as i never fly with anyone else but BA want body parts to go with them within the next 2 months i mean its coming up at thousands for business class

I live in the midlands so if i have to move away from my favourite airline i could always just fly from Birmingham and use say Emirates or Malaysia Airlines or something! Cathay Pacific Could be an option it would be nice to earn some miles to soften the blow to me not flying BA

I can go to Manilla or Cebu Airport so i am very flexible on getting there but dont really want to spend more than 2-3k round trip to get there as i would like to have some money left to spend some time with this young lady and book a nice hotel and take her out etc etc

So can anyone help me please i would really appreciate it i am gutted its coming up at thousands to go with BA but needs must i need to get there somehow and as its a long way i would like to go Business Class!

So who would you fly with?

As always your help and knowledge is much appreciated!

Paddy.

You should get a list of carriers you can travel with, and you can find a business class product in your budget.

If you want to fly BA, pay BA prices. If you want to fly in business class, choose any reasonable carrier and pay their price.

Apologies if this seems a little black and white!

Paddy - Mrs PtF is from Cebu: a more beautiful group of ladies you could never wish to meet!

This suggestion may seem a bit off the wall but based, as I am, in CAI I can get a CAI-AUH-MNL-AUH-CAI EY Business Class return for GBP1k - outbound 7 Dec, inbound 14 Dec. Add to that a BA WT+ LHR-CAI-LHR and you're in MNL for well under your travel budget. MNL-CEB PR fares (even Business Class) are relatively cheap.

If your lady is in CEB I can recommend to stay, amongst others, at the Mactan Shangri-La.

Oh come on, can't we be a little bit more constructive than that?!?! ...or are you an IAG shareholder?

Question for rossmacd - where are these "BA prices" that you speak of? Do you mean the ones that go up and down all the time? The ones where you can find significant savings by using alternative routings? ...or, for instance, easily save serious money by flying to mainland Europe to start a trip from there?

Question for the OP: Do you have a handy stash of Avios you could use to upgrade? e.g. book WTP and upgrade to Business?

How about something like e.g.

Dec 12th-19th, Qatar have a fare of £2150 according to ITA. Whilst you can't earn BA miles, you could credit to QR's own scheme then use on a oneworld redemption when they join next year?

Start your journey ex-EU and you get there and back in Business for only £600 more than the WTP return fare is starting from London.

Fare basis INCEU28 which is an advance purchase offer and must be booked at least 28 days before departure, so if you're going out at Christmas you need to get your skates on to grab this one...

Indeed! However, how much was the WTP fare?

Heh. I have an abnormally anal browser configuration that doesn't allow javascript, images or links between sites by default, so I didn't actually see your image

Now I see it. Great find!

Your WTP itinerary has a 24 hour Christmas Day/Boxing Day layover in HKG - after that I'm surprised anyone reads your posts.
