T1 (intl) Lounge. What is the point?

I recently had a shorthaul flight out of T1 and the lounge (ex-BMI) was so far from the gate (other side of a very sprawled out terminal) that there was no possible reason or incentive to use it.

Why do they operate a lounge so far away? Why can we not share the El Al King David Lounge until things normalise?

Grateful if anyone can shed some strategic light on this...

BA won't pay LY when they already have a lounge in the terminal. Why would they?

Not all BA flights go from a gate far from the lounge. You were just unlucky. The walk probably did you good.

As airports are quite big places Im sure that all lounges in all airports are far away from at least a few gates. I fly to several mideast and European airports and without exception fly from the gates 3 minutes from the lounge.

Now as for the quality of the lounge and the lack of a First area......thats an entirely different topic all together

BA are not going to pay good money to have a shiny new lounge in T1 when the bulldozers are not far away!

It's not GF that's for sure but there is nothing wrong with the quality of the lounge, which in my opinion is one of the nicest in LHR.

You want a walk - try getting to the D gates in AMS from the KLM lounge. That's as far as the BA lounge + another 5 minute walk!

Yup - the joy of Victor.

People will have to accept that the T1 situation isn't going to be optimal as the terminal will be demolished soon though as noted above the basic infrastructure in the ex-BD lounges is pretty decent. What does need some work is the inferior F&B offerings.

I certainly rather use the International lounge compared to the Star lounge in T1!
My first ever visit to a lounge was the old BA lounge in T1, (now occupied by Star), I recall it being a fantastic lounge, now Star have turned it into a dingy hole!

Be greatful BA at least have the international lounge, if it wasn't for that I could see them sharing with the priority pass lounge like they do at many outstations.

Agreed, no excuse for having an inferior offering to the other GC lounges at LHR. There isn't even any bourbon!

Are you sure that it's not your expectations that have changed?

LHR is hardly an outstation! BA have a fair number of flights a day from there.

It's a conspiracy to avoid being sued for DVT by forcing people to exercise.

P.S. Joking.
