BA lounges - GRU & ICN

Hi all,

Have just been booked on some flights on BA, both in F.

Next week I fly to Sao Paul(GRU) and in early December to Seoul.

Can anyone tell me which lounge BA uses in GRU? I've checked the Lounge Database on here but it has no listing for GRU. Is it a separate facility for F? Is it worth arriving early for?

Also anyone know which lounge BA will be using in Seoul?

Thanks. DD

BA will be using the Asiana lounge in ICN.

Good thing they're not using the KE F lounge. Possibly the worst one I've ever been to. Their coffee machine was broken, so they had a kettle with decaf instant. Orange juice was from a tin. There was no gin. There was no champagne.

This, from their supposed best lounge in their network. Suffice to say, I shall not be repeating, even at ex-RGN fare levels.

OW have a bit of a mix for lounges then! Wonder which one AA will use when they launch DFW-ICN.

Flew JAL to ICN and had to use the KAL lounge since JAL closed theirs earlier in the year. Wasn't bad in my experience. Still, the OZ lounge does look good from photos.

BA use the United Club at GRU.

This will give you an idea of what it's like. Rather old fashioned but has some decent grub, booze and free wifi. No special treatment for F passengers though.

Thanks for the info. I'm sure our forum's pioneers will appreciate this update. Any word yet on which lounges? Asiana has a first class and a business class lounge at ICN.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I shall probably skip the lounge in GRU then. United Red Carpet??!! From previous experiences they give anything but Red Carpet experience.

Shall look forward to checking out the Asiana lounge though.

Depending on the time of day, the OZ Business lounge can get quite busy, particularly when there are trans-pacific flights due to depart.

Hopefully first class passengers will be allowed in the first lounge and club world in the business lounge. Never know though.

I found the UA lounge at GRU reasonable, but very busy and the staff were a little overwhelmed when it came to cleaning. The A/C seemed better in one part - near the door. Reasonable food and time for a last cachaca!

Yeah the domestic United RCC's are nothing to write home about sometimes (that said I'm writing this from one in Dulles and staff are all really good and while the "real" cheese would raise serious Trading Standards concerns back home, the bar poured drinks certainly are..generous!) The one at GRU isn't awful from what a I remember, and when graded against the general airport facilities..

From memory the OZ J lounge has an OK buffet, not enough seats, mediocre booze....and the only lounge piano I have ever seen.

The OZ lounge is okay (go to the larger one with the view of the apron) - as Swanhunter says, it has a piano! It wasn't crowded when I was there (flying OZ flatbeds to LHR which, together with the service level and onboard food makes me wonder how BA will compete). Lounge buffet was inline with other Star Alliance lounges. So not what one expects from OW.

The issue is that BA will fly from concourse A as most of the non-KE/OZ carriers do, and not the main terminal. Thus, they will be using the OZ lounge out on the concourse in all likelihood. I went to the lounge in May, thought it was good. Motif is rather dark colored. I would guess, depending on status, passengers can use the CX lounge space as well, which may be less crowded. I've been told the JL lounge has closed so that won't be an option.

Correct. Only the Korean airlines usually use the gates in the main terminal, so BA passengers will have to take the train to and from the gates (very similar to the T5A and T5B setup at LHR). So the designated OZ lounge will be the one out in Concourse A, on the upper level above the duty free shops. It is generally fine (better than the lounges BA use in PEK and PVG for example) and probably the best lounge in Concourse A. No views though and food offerings are basic.

The CX lounge is directly next door so there is an alternative if CX have a flight at that time of day.
