F seat assignment block for Gold is wrong IMO!

F seat assignment block for Gold members is a bit messed up in my opinion.

The blocked seats on 777 seem to be 1A and 1K which has the noise potential.

I would think blocking 2A and 2K would be better. (2K especially on NF 777-200 where there is no 3K.)

What do you think?

It is all in the name.

I think people like being able to say they've sat at the 'front-front' of the plane

I know someone who carried a 1A boarding pass stub from a BA 747 around in his wallet for years after he travelled in that seat to MIA. There's no accounting for what does it for some people...

Oi! You keep your hands off those. I prefer 2A/K over 1A/K, so, as a Silver, this should definitely not change.

Still have my MaxJet 1K stub in my travel wallet

Sheesh, "Lovely LTN", this is really micro-managing

When 747's were first introduced it made sense to have 1A/K as the most private seats. As you say when the 777 came into service this no longer held true, but I can imagine the furore if an F PAX expecting 1A/K was shoved back in 2A/K! (or further aft).

I do not see why any seats in F is clearly better than any other. For this reason I anticipate that a Gold member is just as likely to prefer 1A or 1K as any other window or centre seat. Accordingly I would advocate removing a block for Golds.

My personal preference is for row 3 on the 12 or 14F 777 and row 4 on the A markets. My reasoning is that these seats are not adjacent to a galley but give a good view of what most of the other F passengers are up to.

Hypothetically, I considered where we would sit if we ever could be bothered to fly F. Regardless of booking constraints, Row 1 was not a preferred option. For a start, you're likely to be the last off from F

Don't worry, you might be following a full WT+ cabin, so in the grander scheme of things .....

IMO row 1 and 4 are the worst seats in F due to being exposed to more noise and lights, from the galley and/or the loo.

For most Golds I would say 1A and 1K are some of the most unlikely seats for them to pick due to increased likelihood that they know about the potential noise and light issues.

I suppose I want to increase my chance of getting the 2K on NF 777-200 so I am being selfish here.

My preference is 2A - 3A - 2K - 3K on 777-300 (if anyone is wondering about the A preference, it's due to table set-up), and 2K - 2A - 3A on 777-200 (nothing behind 2K on 200, so it makes up for the table issues).

As a persistent Row 1 avoider, I have no affection for Row 1, except on a short CX F flight where you are so busy eating that you don't really mind the noise or light and they tend to be quite quiet anyway for whatever reason. In CX F, my emphasis is to be on the port side.

How true. Another good reason to "Stuff F"

If they blocked 2A/K it sound like it would be a real winner with you and other golds. The other advantage would be that 1A/K would then be release for other uses, and as they are close to the loo it would make since to make them bassinet positions

Ok I'll get my coat.

Just as well (as a Silver) I have snagged 2K on the 777-200 to Seoul next month and also a valuable good tip not to bother trying to get 1A/K when they open up ( I for one would like a souvenir of boarding pass stub in 1A, I have been in short haul I guess but not a first class one)

1A/1K on a 747 is my favorite seat by far.
The view is almost straight-on and departure lineup/takeoff/landing become awesome.

On other aircraft like the T7, nothing better than any other front-row seat.

Severe lack of legroom in 1A/K on a 747

Luckily the GF was in 2A and i swapped with her.

Never again!
