Exclamation T5 heathrow clubs

I am flying with children through London on way to Cape Town. I am flying BA as world traveler. Is there any way to get into the lounges as a world traveler? If not any suggestions as we have a 7 hour layover. kids are 7 and 8....Thanks.

Unfortunately, there are no 3rd party pay-to-enter lounges at Heathrow T5 and you can only access the BA lounges if you have Oneworld status or are travelling First or business.

There are numerous helpful threads on the UK & Ireland board (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/u-k-ireland-484/) about transport options and timings for getting to Windsor, central London, etc.

Lounge access is for status holders or those flying in Club or First only.

For kids to be stuck in the lounges for many hours does not really sound like a good idea, neither for them nor for the rest of the lounge audience!

You don't say where you are from or what your nationality is, but to visit Windsor (which is quite nice actually) you'll need to go landside, which depending on where you come from might involve passing through immigration.

Welcome to the BA forum

As stated up thread you would need me world status to use the lounge.

7 Hours is quite tight, especially if there are any delays, to visit Windsor.

I would think Hampton court, travelling by taxi, would be more practical.

Isn't Windsor Castle closer than Hampton Court?

depending on the age of the kids, you could go to legoland for a few hours ? about 15 miles from heathrow.

Not much in it, but Hampton is a shade closer. I was more thinking about the ability to get a taxi there and back. But I have to say that now I think about it it's 20 years since I lived in the area, so I would have to defer to a current west Londoner.

Assuming your flight is on time and you're not held up through immigration, I would suggest taking the kids on the Heathrow Express into London and then use the underground to get to the London Eye and other attractions in Central London. Then make sure you leave yourself plenty of time to get back. You should have 3-4 hours or so in Central London if all goes well.

Sorry, I was in a particularly facetious mood when I saw your post.

You could potentially hop onto the Heathrow express or the Piccadilly line and spend a couple of hours in central London. Alternatively jump on the Piccadilly line, get off at hammersmith and get a cab/bus to westfield which is a particularly large, new and fancy/upmarket mall where your wife can go spend the equivalent of a CW ticket in one of the designer handbag shops!

As the crows fly Windsor and Hampton Court are comparable in distance, but Windsor will definitely be quicker to get to. Also, Hampton Court is not quite the right attraction for 7 and 8 year olds IMHO.

You'll need to cross the border however, and that could take quite a bit of time... Can't really see there being enough time to visit Lego land, although a blitz visit to Windsor town might just about be on the cards.
