What is your "Gold Renewal Personal Best "?

Hello All

In a vain attempt to hang on to some of the Olympic glory from earlier in the year I am posting this in the total and utter expectation that my newly established 'Personal Best" will be beaten into a pulp by an FT Usain Bolt or Jess Ennis.

I have just requalified for Gold within 32 days of my year restarting (thanks to a OW 4 Continent RTW in Business Class), which happens to be my "PB" after 21 years of having a Gold Card

(Should say that the requalification was a by product of a required business trip, not a TP run)

So thats my PB, which I think is quite reasonable and may take some beating

Unless of course, as they used to say at the end of That's Life, you know any better.......

(Clearly Ester never asked that question re Jimmy Saville)

By way of answering this challenge, i will quote Sir Terry Wogan,
"Slow and steady wins the race...nobody's going to die in this car I promise you that."

Back in the days when it was 1200 tp to renew and Concorde was still flying, I managed to do this in 17 days..... 4 legs on Concorde = 1000 tps and a WTP return to HKG was somewhere like 220 tps at the time all done in December 2001.....

That's the trouble with FT. I will have got GUF2 by about 7 months, which is in the rank amateur class compared to the serious lot on here.

I think acheivements using Concorde should fall into the "wind assisted" category and therefore be disqualified from the "PB"

It was certainly paid for by the client!

(Even I am not in the habit of splurging 6.5 grand on a TP run....)

I normally requalify for Silver about half way through the year, which starts in February for me.

Then a few more flights and Christmas push me over the 1,000 TP threshold.

I'm currently on 1,220TPs - with a CW return (earning 280TPs) to come over Christmas/New Year.

This will get me to precisely 1,500TPs on precisely the last day of my membership year (8 January).

In the same spirit as Prospero's above post - how can a 'personal best' be any better than that?

2 returns on Concorde then a WTP to HKG? Interesting travel policy

of course, I recognise that the Concorde may have been work and the HKG trip paid privately

2 months to 1500 TPs this year - in fact I requalified before my previous year's card expiry which was nice.

Am now just over 4 months in to my year, on 2780 TP and heading for 4000 by the time I get to 6 months.

Unfortunately I didn't make 3000 last year so I'm heading for the magic 5000 to get GGL and CCR at approx 9 months into the year Mrs TT1F is for the first time actively interested in my TPs as she is eyeing up her partner card already...

All due to Moscow going Long Haul - I would be nowhere near these numbers otherwise..

Made Silver 9 months into last membership year (end 03/12) and requalified as silver 6 months into this year (09/12) and after forthcoming JFK and ICN flights will reach Gold on 4th January 13, so 9 months. Clearly my personal best but probably a competitor for slowest gold qualifying time by FT standards, where at 9 months you have usually maxed out the BA rewards and are well onto earning the higher tiers with 2 other airlines!
