New BA/BMI A320 business seating - short review
I was delighted when I boarded my LHR-AMM that we would be flying in the new converted business seat. It looks lovely, very plush with brown leather in a very warm looking cabin.
The seats are configured 2-1 and if you get a single seat on its own it is a truly excellent space. You have loads of room on either side of you although there is not that much storage for bags, shoes etc. The TV screen is large and the choice of TV and movies was good.
As for the chair - the choice of seating positions is limited and it is a little claustrophobic when you are in the sleeping position although it is a good, flat bed and absolutely fine for my (just short of) 6 foot height.
The only issue I had was that the panel to change the seat position is on the armrest and extremely sensitive so you could be watching TV and it would change. Also, on both legs (I had the same config on the return) the lumbar support would simply inflate/deflate without any input from me.
The last thing and I simply dont understand why they can never get this right: there were loads of problems with peoples seats. At least 3 on the way out and 6 people on the return had issues with their seats and were asked to move places. Mine were fine but I did feel for the crew who were obviously frustrated with the issues.
All in all, I think this is an excellent product and I look forward to flying it. I actually prefer it to the regular BA club world.....

Thanks for the report (I wrote one as well following my recent LHR-TLV flight).
I'm confused about your comment re the leather seats though...
Seats in CW are not leather, it's just WT that get leather.

One of the points of trivia I learnt here is the the lumbar support is deflated automatically when the captain kick starts the aircraft. Some people use this to tell when take off is imminent.
Many thanks for the report, but it does sound like BMIs final legacy is bringing mid haul to BA. I wonder whether the 1-2 seating is what makes it rather jolly? Keeps a lot of people happy.

The OP is talking about the new mid-haul Business Class seats being introduced on the A320/1 mid-haul aircraft.

It is also making a lot of people who want to redeem miles rather than pay cash unhappy!
I believe it is even cheaper to BEY and they use the same fleet.
Yes, £2 less at £599
I must say, having flown it once, it is truly a great product. I liked every minute of it, except as mentioned the extremely sensitive seat position/features touchpad which almost made me $h!t myself when the seat moved back with a rather loud noise!

Only A321's will be getting the new flatbed cabin, the A320's will be reverting to shorthaul configuration.
Glad to hear you enjoyed the new cabin . Disappointed to hear about several seats not working, having operated several flights on these A/C at bmi, never once had any seats not working. I guess this will happen though from time to time, unfortunately. Although not ideal, the seat can still be lowered into the flatbed position manually.
