Terminal 3 Flounge, or No. 1 lounge for breakfast?

Dreaded Eastern European return tomorrow (no doubt from Gate 24 as well...) and I'm wondering where the best breakfast could be found in T3.

I prefer the No.1 lounge offering over Galleries Club (the table service menu is excellent), but does the Flounge win over the No.1 lounge?

Thanks, OT

Flounge by a country mile.

No 1 Lounge has a few things such as cereals and bread, but it's essentially closer to a continental affair. Whereas Flounge is as good as, if not better than, T5, with a comprehensive set of hot breakfast options both from the buffet and on the menu (which you'll find in the appropriate thread).

IMHO the breakfast in T3 Flounge is pretty good - the offerings seem to be much the same as the T5 Flounge. I am going through T3 Flounge in a week for an early flight so I will see if things have changed.

I'm a T3 F lounge regular and I prefer it to T5 F lounge.

I find the T3 F lounge to be very quiet and attentive, including at breakfast time (maybe a bit different just before QF departure in the evening though). In fact pretty outstanding actually. I haven't tried No 1 lounge as I have had no reason to as I'm very happy with T3 F lounge offerings.

T3 F lounge ladies will organise different combination of food from those that are on the menu if asked nicely too, e.g. bacon and poached eggs instead of kippers, etc.

You can sit in the First dining area or hang around other areas. There are always ladies (and occasionally gents) walking around asking if you need anything. You'll find it quite different from T5 - much more personal.

The hot food at T3 F lounge during the day, including at breakfast time, is to order, by the way, unlike T5 F lounge. This is because the lounge is quiet and the heat lamp will just dry everything out. It means you get more freshly food as well.

There are cold selections on the buffet, including fruit, salad, pastries and cheese if I remember correctly.

Just a word of warning. The kitchen can be a little on the slow side so don't leave it to the last minute to order your food.

If you fancy something different for breakfast, there is always the CX lounge. If I remember correctly they serve noodles (not talking about the devil's invention the pot noodles) at breakfast time as well.

Seems like I should pay a trip to the Flounge, I'll pass through tomorrow on my way to gate 24 for the bus trip.

(Now if they don't ask, just nicely ask for what you want! The waiting staff there are really sweet.)

If you have a breakfast at the F lounge you might like to order a special meal for the flight to avoid the English breakfast on board, assuming you are in CE. My favourite is fruit platter.

Actually, more often than not the waiters do ask how you'd like your eggs! If not, I tell 'em

I generally request a low calorie meal anyway, as i MUCH prefer the omelette to the basic meal.

I agree that the omelette is usually nicer than the usual English breakfast.

By the way don't get lulled into the false sense of security that the flight would be from Gate 24. They put it on a far away gate somewhere earlier this year. I got rather pleased that it might not be a bus when I realised it wasn't at Gate 24. I was disappointed to find it was a bus after walking a pretty good distance. It doesn't happen very often, but it occasionally gets you.

Terminal 3 Flounge, or No. 1 lounge for breakfast?

Is it worth mentioning the cx lounge?

Some people seem to like noodles or knowing the alternatives, so yes I think it's worth mentioning the CX lounge.

I got a little scarred by noisy mobile phone talkers x 4 all at once there though... with one walking around doing so, so there was no escape. Of course it's not the lounge's fault.
