Sort of OT : SPG points to BA Avios.. how long?

Does anyone know how long does it take to transfer SPG points to BA AVIOS?

I am just 2000 miles short of an award. I don't want to buy the miles since I've missed out on the 30% extra miles - but for some stupid reason, its still on the website.

Need to book the flight by tomorrow. Otherwise I guess I'd have to buy the miles?

It usually takes several days, often up to a week.

Transfer took a week

Hi,

I transferrd some SPG miles last week and they were credited to my BA Account yesterday.

Don't forget that if you transfer a minimum of 20000 points SPG give you another 5000 bonus. All 20000 have to be done in one go, and you can do multiples (eg 40000) in one go up to 79999. Not a bad way to top up the account!

So is transferring SPG points in 20+5k blocks to BA generally seen as good value? I never considered doing it but it does seem you'[d get more bang for buck, if Avios used judiciously

Trying to figure out if I should transfer Amex to Avios, since once it's transfered, I can't transfer it back.

Here is my flight information:

On the DFW-LHR I see:
F5 A4 J9 C9 D9 R5 W9 E9 T9 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 O8 G5

On the LHR-DFW I see:
F8 A6 J9 C9 D9 W9 E9 T9 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N9 Q9 O9 G9

How to tell if upgrade seats are available? What seating class are CW upgrade available seats? Is it U?

Thanks

You can search ba.com for award availability for the class you want to upgrade to. Straight awards and upgrades have the same availability. So if you are in WTP just check ba.com for CW award availability for your flight.

So looking at ba.com. It shows Avios award flights available in J for next week but nothing else. If I was leaving next week, I would call BA and request an upgrade?

Is this normal that seats don't open up until the week before departure?

Doing more research, it appears that seats open up more rapidly as the flight date approaches, as long as remaining inventory exists.

Also, my assumption is that if the J-R seat buckets show 9, then upgrades are more likely to be available since this is the maximum number of unsold seats in CW. WET bucket is for WT+ seats, which if showing say 000 for availability would mean that you might be upgraded to CW for free, if the flight is oversold and you are either Emerald or Sapphire and WT is oversold.
