Extension Seat Belts

For some inexplicable reason the waistbands of every single pair of trousers I own have shrunk. I just don't know the reason why.

I know that BA aircraft carry extension seat belts but, as a FF, I thought perhaps I should have my own that I could put in my carry-on bag, thus avoiding bothering cabin crew during the boarding process.

Can anyone suggest a source, please? And, while I am here, what is WeightWatchers' phone number?

Wow, I didn't know personal extension seat belts existed!

Oh, such a sad tale. I can only offer sympathy, and perhaps a little moral support.

I may have seen you on a couple of JER flights recently - we were on the left side of CE, the person I'm thinking of was on the right ... In 2A and 2B.

He certainly needed the extension ... But surely not you? I thought you were rather older.

Oh, the Wonderful Folk at FT!

It seems that one has only to ask a question and fellow FTers will rush to one's aid.

Flattery works every time, T8191! But no,it was not me; I have been away from the island for several months now. That's why I was unable to attend "the" do!

Hey, steady on, T8191! I may be obese but not so much that I occupy two seats!

Any more of that, my man, and I shall be demanding satisfaction from you in the dunes near Big Vern's. My seconds will call on you!

One thing I have noticed is that not all seat belts are the same on BA.

The 320 family's seats seem to have a much smaller seat belt than CW.

In CW, there is loads of room in the seatbelt but I only have perhaps five or six inches on the 320 family!

I agree; the belts on BA's Boeing aircraft offer no problems at all. However, much of my flying is intra-European.

Agreed. As a big unit myself I find the Airbii seat belts don't cover my corporation. On Boeings, in any class, on any airline - no problem.

I do believe the fact that Boeing belts are a tad longer than Airbus belts has something to do with the average girth of folks in the home countries of the companies! I mean have you ever seen a plate of food in Europe like those in many US restaurants?

That page brought up offers for Kindles.

However, this page - http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_...elts&x=10&y=24 - (I hope that works) showed a range of extenders at different prices.

I was drawn to:

I'm sure KweezyFlyer's link will be useful for a lot of people, if only to see what's available before looking for better prices elsewhere.

Not sure they should really be pushing their products with the kind of "serving suggestion" seen here, though!

Yes, I saw that too. It made me guffaw to the extent that SWMBO came in to check what was going on.

I find that there's seemingly no rhyme or reason to seatbelt lengths. They can vary between aircraft, airlines, and class of service. I'm a fat guy and one bizarre thing I've found is that while I'm fat enough to have needed an extension on a couple of different carriers F or J seats, I've consistently found A320 Y seatbelts sufficient across multiple carriers.
