Just wondering, if you reach enough points for the next tier shortly after your membership year ends, would BA ever be flexible enough to allow a complimentary tier upgrade?

At the risk of being OT, United just offered me the opportunity to buy my way to having enough Status Miles to reach their first "lounge access" level. I fell off my perch at the ideal of spending USD2500...... (and I wasn't that far off....)
Well it looks like they will probably do it for a week. But it probably won't work for me, I've got four flights to do within the month it expires, the latest of which is just over three weeks after that point. Doubt they will extend it that long.
