Flew IAD-LHR on Friday evening (2 Dec) in J on one of the "A Market" 777s, with no AVOD. Having never been on one of these before I found it bizarre to be in business class (regardless of airline) in this day and age to be presented with a tape loop system! I think its high time BA got their a** in gear and stopped talking about refitting these aircraft and doing so ASAP. I would find that more valuable than a change in champagne or marginally better food... Thank goodness it was a night flight

To each their own. IFE is a long, long way down my list of priorities when selecting an airline. It must be years since I used it for anything other than airshow.

The OP will be updated this week with the excellent feedback above. ^

Out of interest, is that because you are an avid reader or because you have ipad/other source of personal IFE?

Similar experience recently ex YYZ (but that might explain the issue) - simply inferior hard product if you are on the A market planes. Though on that route, AC also flies 767s which at least are retrofitted to provide same hard product as the newer 777s in its fleet.

Read/work on laptop/use iPad/listen to music on iPhone/relax and think/sleep

I can fill a 13 hour day sector from HKG or PVG with that.

I have just done DOH-JFK and IAH-DOH. These are 14+ hour sectors and the longest flights by a long way that I have taken.

Before this week I would have counted a 13 hour sector like HKG or PVG as very long. But now I would say that the flights go very quickly, at least in business class.

Anyway, the point I was trying to make was that I can sympathise with you on this. It is very easy to fill the time with what you listed.

Came back on G-VIIY Dubai to Heathrow on Friday 2 Dec, and was reminded that for the "exit row seats" row 26 in Y, which BA sells at a Ł50 premium, the 'Window Seat' sold on this row is a disgrace, because there is absolutely no window visible at this point because two windows are omitted here immediately aft of the emergency exit door (the air con ducts and electrical supplies are behind the plain wall at this point). Not only that but the liferaft fairing is about 2" in front of your feet, so there's no extra legroom either. I got stuck with this seat last month on the same route, which had been presented somehow as a good seat.

Anyway, this time made sure I got row 27 instead. Proper window, and nobody in the middle seat, whereas in the exit row all three are invariably taken, of course. Much better, costs less.

As has been answered in at least 1 of your other 2 posts on the same topic, YES the MCO flights are all scheduled to have AVOD.

How long will the NF/WTP/WT take? GRAES has been in CWL for over a month now.

Isn't there minor recertification involved as it is the first of its type (772) to get the full retrofit?

Correct. BAMC plans to have the certification in place before Christmas.

If that happens before the 109/108 to/from DXB on the 20th &31st, it will be the first time I've hoped to get RAES on my flight. The chance of a GMIS equipped plane is otherwise quite high according to FTDashboard.
