Upgrading using Avios Points is permitted on eligible British Airways published fares only (Fare classes are: J, C, D, R, I, W, E, T, Y, B, H) but is not permitted on bookings made with a travel agent. Upgrading using Avios Points is permitted where flights are sold as part of a package holiday or where flights and ground arrangements, such as prepaid hotels, cars, transfers and experiences, are booked and paid for in the same transaction. Flights booked and paid for separately from any ground arrangements are also eligible for Upgrades using Avios Points for Upgrade. Uprading using Avios Points for Upgrade can only be applied to bookings which are made in the member's Executive Club membership country.

So you'll still be able to MFU, you just have to call it APFU
Come to think of it, how are we supposed to pronounce Avios? Is it Ah-vios or Ay-vios?
(My company's recently changed its name to a similar ambiguous non-word, and they've been very vague about how we're meant to say it)

Can I cancel my existing reward flight and rebook using Reward Flight Saver?
Yes. You can cancel an existing reward flight and book a Reward Flight Saver. But you will only be able to book Reward Flight Saver tickets when they go live in November. And once a reward flight is cancelled, there is no guarantee there will be space available on the same flight.
which suggests that no, there will not be automatic refunds...

I rather like the concept of a one-way W to J MFU to New York for 10,000 miles. And I refuse to call them Avios points too

As someone who mainly uses redemptions for New York this is good news.
I appreciate that this announcement is primarily about miles, but I thought tha they would have said something about status - the only thing I could find was:
Will the changes affect my current tier status?
No. Your Executive Club status will not be affected by the change to Avios points.
If you have an Airmiles account and BAEC account I wonder whether the Avios' (if Avios is the plural what is the singular?!) be merged?

Had a brief flick through, but has anybody seen anything to confirm/deny the rumour about premium class redemptions being restricted to silver/gold cardholders?
(As someone who earnt all his miles as a gold, and is now spending them, as the BD ones have run out, I'd be rather put out if this were the case...)
