OT: New Hilton Hotel opening at LHR T5

News release here.

Doesn't look quite as handy as the Sofitel, but probably easier to get to T5 from there than the existing LHR Hilton.

The Qatar A340 marks the spot

Surely if the hotel is 1 mile from T5, then the Hilton T4 is actually nearer!

So the nearest Hilton to T5 will be the Hilton T4 and not the Hilton T5 !!

Oh...so it's not actually at T5 at all then.

So it's still going to be T4 for me then!

Hilton T4 is way more than a mile from T5 no?

Also from what I read , they will not have a free shuttle but you will use the Hotel Hoppa bus for a fee. I also will continue to stay at the T4 Hilton as I dont like the Hoppa.

Cheapskates. It's always so helpful when hotels have airport shuttles - maybe BAA won't let them?

I'll stick with the Sofitel. Not only is it right at T5, but it is a very nice hotel. Possibly the best airport hotel in the world?

As no (off-terminal) hotel offers a free shuttle to LHR and it would give them a competitive advantage then it's fair to guess that BAA doesn't allow it.

But the Hilton at T4 does offer a shuttle to T5 (altough I wonder if this will stop when the T5 Hilton is opened!)

Perhaps, if you're a Carlsberg drinker!

That's why I added "(off-terminal)" to my post :)

Almost, but not quite.

Now, I don't work for Saatchi & Saatchi, but I think that for the Carlsberg drinker, the best airport hotel in the world would have...hmm...direct lounge access...beds that transform into airplane seats and carry you onto the plane...and, of course, supermodel-maid-FAs accompanying you on your hovering bed/seat (the 'French maid' outfits are removable thanks to the magic of Velcro, revealing BA uniforms - albeit with, er, slightly shorter skirts - underneath).

:D
