Is this possible? I can't change my flight booking with BA??

Hi everyone,

I just called BA and I asked them if I book a flight from LON to MIL and pay cash and use my miles to upgrade to business, if I could change my flight later on in case I need to and how much I would need to pay.

The girl replied saying I can only change 24h BEFORE the flight and not after and it would be £31.

Is this right? You can't change a BA european flight?! This seems ridiculous!

I think she may have been talking about retaining your upgrade. It's one of the restrictions of MFU that you can't change inside 24hrs and keep the upgrade - you lose both that and the miles. Other changes will be in line with the commercial booking you're paying for.

Yes, it also depends on the fare basis for your purchased economy-class ticket from LON to MIL. Only the most expensive tickets will be changeable right up to departure (and on some routes it seems only Club Europe class tickets are that flexible).

So you are effectively doing two changes:
(1) changing the underlying purchased economy-class ticket, for which there's usually a charge (if it's at all possible) except for the most expensive fare basis, and
(2) moving the miles-for-upgrade associated with the ticket, which you can't do at all within 24 hours of departure. (I don't know if there's a charge associated with doing so earlier - probably depends if you do it offline or online, in particular.)
