Does all Embraers on LHR-BRU mean no more businesss class either?
They haven't announced a removal of Business Class. However, J on the Embraers just means sitting in the first 2-4 rows, with a slightly better food offering in an identical seat, no extra space and no curtain. Not worth it IMO, other than for non-status pax to get lounge access.
Well, for my booking pattern (usually late notice, but do not need a lot of flexibility in London), restricted business is often cheaper than the remaining flexible economy booking classes. More miles, too. And some food and drinks, and currently a free middle seat and in half of the cases even a proper business class seat.
The last benefit would go away of course. Does an Embraer have middle seats that can be blocked?

Fly SpottieAirways

Well, when I start my airline, which has been slightly delayed owing to lack of capital (actually I am sitting on a very large pile of negative cash) then I will bounce into LHR and ask for all the slots back again.

The rules used to be, and not sure how they have changed, that some slots are reserved for domestic needs. So, that would be the needs of domestic flights that used to run including Inverness, Liverpool, Jersey, Isle of Man, Leeds, Teesside, Plymouth, Newquay, Guernsey and probably if you dig around enough in the old British Midland routes Birmingham or East Midlands.

You would all get miles on OneStar/DarkWorld Alliances but not sure if I could get you status on either... well the BA and BMi codeshare seems to work so you never know!

I am sorry for the LBA members. I have used the service a few times to visit LBA for the day. I can see JetBe starting a service to LGW at some point, but probably not using the old CityFlyer Shorts 360 (hear today, deaf tomorrow).

As for MME, well the last time I used the service was a DC9 I think... good luck to you all and may you enjoy your time late at night in the King's Cross area.

happy landings

Spottie

It's OK if you can get the "1" side, but very uncomfortable as one of two passengers on the "2" side.

So these are really small planes? How should they replace the A319/A320 that are currently used on LHRBRU

There is no lounge access for business passengers at LBA, only for passengers with *G or BD*S status. So for business, you are paying £400 extra for a warm meal!

You're right of course, but SmilingBoy's question was about the LHR-BRU route ....

OK, read the FAQ 6. Seems like regional business class service is actually better than mainline short-haul business service. Sharing the 2 seats would seem like a pain though. I will have a look in the voyager magazine to compare Embraer and A319 capacities (about to fly LHR-BRU.

It will be a big change for me to fly on such small planes - I have hardly ever done it (the smallest I usually fly have 2-2 seating); and now on a route between (soon) two *A hubs and two big capital cities will feel very strange!

They are tiny planes. It feels very strange when you board but once you get settled they are surprisingly comfortable.

The main difference is not in seat pitch but overhead locker space: some bags will need to be gate checked at the bottom of the aircraft steps and then returned at the bottom of the aircraft steps on arrival.

Disappointing news about the route cuts.

On a personal note im disappointed that there will be no A319s this summer LHR/ABZ. I put up with embraers through the winter in the hope of a mix of embraer and airbus a/c this summer (same as last year)

Plus points from ABZ, if the embraer goes tech at least there is usually a quick swop onto another aircracft or a quick trip to the hanger.

Minus points of Embraers, Getting seated without banging your head takes a proper risk assesment. Minimal hand luggage in the cabin and sometimes a ten minute wait to disembark while waiting for said luggage to be brought to the bottom of the steps. No airbridge at Heathrow so standing in the rain waiting to get onboard!

Apparently 2 Airbuses are being wetleased to Lufthansa, which is probably the reason for Embraers being used on LHR-BRU/AMS.

Just had a very quick look at LHR/BRU on random dates in May and June showing no business class, just economy

Really surprised with the AMS cut from 7 to 4 daily and especially with the 6h25 cut, this one was always packed when I took it. First flight now arrives 10h40 into AMS! Very late.

Cr*p. BRU-LHR in BD business is a major source of M&M status miles for me. Not sure I can retain SEN without it. Might have to reconsider my focus (away from *A)...
