A one way zone 2 to 8 redemption is 50k one way in F (or 25k + £170). It's prob worth doing this as that's 20k less than starting in the UK (presuming you are) and will save you a ton of APD on a premium reward also.
First sounds about right! Far too many 13 hour economy class to Tokyo for one lifetime.
I have checked out ANA's mileage redemption tool , are there any tutorials available on using this and also a dummies guide to redemption i.e. dealing with the call centre etc.
Also if I am planning to go in october when should I be looking at booking?
You are entitled to take a LH MAN-FRA connecting flight as a no-cost add-on, in business class if it is available
You are spoilt for choice, just taking your date of 2 Oct as an example, there's a seat in LH F FRA-NRT departing 13:55, with a MAN connection leaving 09:40 (though you may want to take the 07:00 connection instead to get yourself a few hours at the fabled FRA First Class Terminal)
What is it that entitles me to take the MAN > FRA flight? ( Which is available btw )
Thats just how it works. Referring to the redemption chart, you can travel from anywhere in Zone 1 to anywhere in zone 8, using connecting flights too, using any combination of *A carriers, by any reasonable route, one-way in First class, for 70,000 miles + tax.
So you could go, for example MAN-FRA-NRT (LH then LH) or LBA-LHR-NRT. (BD then NH)
Postscript : as well as being a fab way to travel, choosing F will give you extra luggage allowance, which may come in very handy if you're heading out to stay.
NH F class seats Europe-NRT are like gold dust. I say book this as soon as possible or it will go and you will miss out on (what I hear is) a great experience. Good luck.

Yep good advice, if ANA is anything like typical Japanese hospitality and quality then I'm sure it would be the ultimate flight experience.

I'd jump on that ANA F seat, they are very hard to come by and prob better than LH which I understand is quite an old seat product (but very good service and a great lounge in FRA). Just make sure you give yourself enough time to connect in FRA as if it's two tickets they won't accommodate you if you are delayed on the way to FRA
