Oh, thanks, I never knew that. I always thought it was only the suites on the A380 that were the problem.
Too bad - it's a nice product...

MAD-ZRH-BKK-SIN-NRT:
Madrid-Zurich (swiss business class)
Zurich-Bangkok (swiss first class or thai first class)
Maybe stopover in thailand for a weeks holiday
Bangkok-Singapore (swiss first class or singapore first class)
Singapore-Tokyo (Singapore frst class)

This would cost you 25k miles + £170 or 50k miles

So if you want something like that here is what you could put together with availability today:
MAD-ZRH LX C 1st Oct
ZRH-BKK LX F 1st Oct
stopover in thailand for a week
BKK-SIN LX F 9th Oct
SIN-NRT SQ F 10th Oct

Thanks to everyone for your input so far.
So the above post got me thinking about a stopover on route to Tokyo.

Would this be possible?

MAD-->ZRH--->BOM Overland to DEL DEL--->SIN--->NRT.

Can I use an overland sector on redemption, and also when does a connection become a stopover ( I'm guessing 24hrs +) I wouldn't mind a half day in Singapore.

Cheers.

People have booked routes similar to the example you gave there. It should be fine although you might have to go through a few agents to get there
Yes I think it is possible to do a land sector.
