Also, there was some blurb during the process that all transactions are converted into and out of US dollars. As the current rate is less than $2 to the £, could the £1 transactions end up being calculated as 99p, 98p or whatever, and non-qualifying for miles?
Thanks.
Seems unlikely. Last time I did a buy-it-now on ebay it tracked correctly (£23 purchase got 46 miles, which was the rate then).
However, as with all these things, you buy at your own risk. Your £1 is going to charity whether or not your transaction tracks or you get the miles - no refunds!
I bought one last night, but I'm disappointed that I'm yet to receive details of this allegedly "great" independent website. I guess I'll just have to hang about on FT til then

I've just sent an e-mail to everyone who bought one overnight. If you bought more than one I've only sent you one email. I will continue to do this once a day. Please leave nice feedback .
Listing now revised to allow non-UK registered ebayers to buy. However, I recommend if you are non-UK I recommend doing a trial purchase and waiting until it tracks properly before doing another. Ebay and sheer volume of work required permitting, I'll try to keep this listing going until the end of the promo in June.
PayPal is eating a worrying chunk of the cash - 23p per transaction! - so after the ebay costs as well I reckon about 65p will end up going to the NSPCC. I will Gift Aid it at both ends, though, so the total donation will end up at nearer 90p after the taxman and I both chip in the extra 20%.

Hi Raffles,
Just got your email after testing with one BIN last night. Will update on tracking and times as well. it's a very good idea and it's a nice thought for the NSPCC. Also did other seperate ebay and iTunes purchases for comparison. Thanks for thinking it up

"Postage costs cannot be calculated for this item because the postage calculator is currently unavailable or the seller has not specified postage costs to your currently selected address. Please select another postage address from your address book and try again."
This was the message I received when I tried to buy this item earlier today. DOes this mean I cant buy this since I am based in Sweden? Since nothing will be shipped, could I just make up an adress in the UK?

Can you accept BACS transfers to reduce the paypal fees? (BTW by the end of May BACS transfers btw UK banks should only take a few hours instead of the current 3 days)
edit: thinking about it I guess you can't as you need immediate payment otherwise people could just buy to get the link to track and end up not paying.

Maybe they were doing what I was thinking of doing logging into our separate DC accounts and then making a purchase on each but maybe as you suggest they would track as one transaction - maybe the answer is to open some new EBay accounts. Any EBay experts out there?
As has been stated "trial + track" is the best solution in general with Points.com (hence why i was ordering highway codes at a speed of 2 per week - I wanted to see each transaction track correctly).
As I tend to err on the side of caution, I only let one transaction through at a time (probably over cautious - alas that's me. I trust points.com as far as I can throw it... and since I'm useless a chucker, that's not very far).
I'll be watching with eagerness to see when Raffles eBay transaction comes through
Hmmm "Donate £10 to charity and we'll give you 5000 miles"... now there's an idea for a promotion...

Just provide a UK postage address (e.g. a hotel). As nothing is actually physically send, this should not cause any problems.
