It seems to be an Amex problem generally. It certainly does NOT like a BA Amex card!
When you sign in via the site, you pass your details over to another server (ssogateway.points.com which then resolves to earn.flybmi.com), which contains your DC number and and a few other details (have a look at the address bar when you get to the main shopping page... you might see a number beginning with 0/1/3/6 that you're familiar with (over clear HTTP for those of us who are slightly security concious)
That's enough to help generate tracking information about what you've done. All done by the magic of cookies ... as well as the magic of Points.com...

And this is good as a "proof of purchase" when you don't get your miles?
I would suggest you screengrab and keep any recepits you get if you're claiming in this promotion.... and always keep a check on your clicking AND buying history (you can do this after you've transfered to earn.flybmi.com - the screen where you see all the shops) - Click MY ACCOUNT and then follow the links
However, I would be always be extra careful when it comes to points.com. Its a force we don't understand

I understand. And where in the mac store can I actually buy the songs? I have been trying for a while but I fail to find the cheapo songs.
You need to go into the Apple iTunes Store GB (If you're in other territories outside the the UK, this might not work depending how points.com tracks things).
Its listed under Books, Music & Films as Apple iTunes GB 3 miles/£1.
You need to have a credit card/debit card registered in the UK and also iTunes installed on your computer (as anohter countries debit/credit card may send you to anohter store because iTunes Music store varies from location to location worldwide, with different pricing policies, etc.)
I am now coming to http://store.apple.com when I use Windows 2000 and SeaMonkey. It stays within the UK store. But again my question: Where can I download the music? When I click on the link on the bmi site within my mac, I am re-directed to my iTunes and there are some songs. However, when I click on the link within my Windows, I am ending on the mac store website. My understanding of the bmi promotion is that one needs to buy something from the mac store website and not from the iTunes shop, am I wrong? Please keep in mind that it says on the bmi site: "Apple Store UK"
"Apple Store: Visit the online Apple Store to purchase Apple hardware (including iPods), software, accessories and a vast array of third-party products. To purchase by phone, please call 0800 048 0408 (UK) or 1800 92 38 98 (Ireland). Lines are open Monday-Friday 0800-2200 and Saturday 0900-2200." Source: http://www.apple.com/uk/contact/
If others feel that purchases of iTune songs count towards the pormo, then again my qestion: Where within the mac store website can I download the music?
You don't buy the songs from the Apple Store. You buy them from within iTunes, from the iTunes store, once it has popped up after clicking the iTunes link (not the Apple Store link) from the flybmi website.
Just so you get this clear:
There are two stores. They are different from each other.
Firstly there is the Apple Store. It sells computers. It does not sell music. It is not what you want. Leave it alone.
And then there is the iTunes Store. You use this from within the iTunes application. This is what you want. But if you want your sales to track for miles, you must launch iTunes by clicking on the link from the flybmi shopping website.
I am a bit confused about the references to points.com. I have never used that and I don't know what it is.
I thought the promotion simply says that if you buy things through the BMI site you get 500 points per purchase? Do I need to do anything with points.com for that to happen?

the other guys said that all you need to do is log into your bmi account and click you to the store. they said that everything should be cookie-controlled.
well, i am not yet very much convinced about the itunes store.

Why not? It works, I have not only successfully tracked purchases by this method but also have received miles in the bank.
Rules of the game, which apply to any similar points-for-shopping experience (Quidco, Pigsback, BA etc etc).
1. It may fail if you have any sort of any anti-spyware / anti-adware software running on your computer. This software may be configured to treat tracking cookies as "bad" and to block them.
2. It may fail if you have fiddled with your browser cookie settings. Particularly if you have set your browser to refuse cookies from third-party sites.
3. It may possibly fail if you already have tracking cookies from some other site in your browser. The sale may get notched up against the wrong tracking site.
I use a separate browser, clear all cookies before I start, make sure I am set to accept all cookies from all sites and don't run any anti-malware software (but then I use Macs so I don't yet have to.)

hello,
what should people like me do, who are not UK based and do not have a UK based CC either? How can they benefit from that offer (with lowest costs of course!)?
Can non UK based members also buy music at the UK iTtunes Store? What other possibilities are there?

Immigrate to the UK.
Seriously, this is an offer from a UK airline plugging its UK-based shopping link-up. Unless you have a UK credit card / UK address, I cannot see how you can participate. Don't feel put out, e.g. there are plenty of LH offers I cannot participate in.
